this is where the confusion comes in imo. i always think of trash when i hear the term EDM. prolly cause of EDC

    Yup lmao

But as we all know edm just means electronic dance music so when talking about the objective genre it’s probably one of my favorites

Also there's a lot of genres in edm, so your statement makes no sense. Might as well throw in r&b and other genres in with rap music while you're at it.

But my statement still remains, a LOT of house music sounds the same

If people refer to it as EDM it's probably bad.

Now there are plenty of artists who make electronically produced music that you can dance to that I enjoy a lot.

Would that music, by definition, not be considered electronic dance music?

Pop EDM and Alternative EDM are both categorically “Electronic” in digital music stores. They’re different strains of the same genre.

I agree with you. I'm just saying I usually refrain from saying "I like EDM" to random people because I'm not tryna get in a convo with someone who thinks Zedd and Excision saved their lives.

Exactly. I think that phase is mostly over now though and we as Hip-Hop fans not paying attention to that scene don’t see the transition to actual artistic DJs. Most of these festivals got dope acts now a days that it’s not this mainstream commercial circus (whereas, interestingly enough, if you look at what’s mainstream now, rap festivals are flooded with overproduced/undertalented acts in a similar manner Pop EDM was pushed in the early 2010s)

Anyone listen to Yung Bae? Not sure where he'd fit in as far as EDM subgenres, but that dude has some funky slappers.
