u probably smell like doritos leave me alone
dont worry bout me worry bout why FromSoftware is using Tower points in their "cutting edge" open world game
so far the main innovation is playing 4 player coop Dark Souls in an open world
the more they copy elements from Ubi/BOTW/Witcher the more people will be upset because they expect more
It was a joke s***head relax
I feel like the baseline INGREDIENTS of Ubisoft style open world games aren’t the problem
It’s how their implemented within boring worlds, samey gameplay, repetitive enemies and gameplay loops
If this game has those same core gameplay beats but with the typical FromSoft style creativity, difficulty, tension, combat etc.. I can only see it being an amazing thing
It’s not like any game with towers is instantly lesser ‘art’
I’m scared that this gonna get delayed at the last minute.
It won’t. This game has been delayed behind the scenes multiple times now

They’ve also showed gameplay and s*** to outlets
But I guess games have shown more and still been delayed
Dudes get so upset about games they haven't even played yet lol like go read a book or step outside, it's a beautiful world out there
Put Elden Ring and UbiSoft in the same sentence again and I'm mailing you a bomb
Or Zelda

Which of these guys games did you want me to play again, Sekiro?

Bloodborne's the best starting point if you've got a PS4
Sekiro's amazing though. Will have you raging for the first 5 hours or so before you get the flow of it.

What's the exploration like? Almost considering firing up Oblivion
What's the exploration like? Almost considering firing up Oblivion
The world designs are some of the best I've ever played but it's not open world like that, it's more like a 3D Castlevania/Metroid. Elden Ring is the first big open world thing they're doing.

man Oblivion is so f***ing good. better than/more longevity than Skyrim for sure
AC Origins, Odyssey and Valhalla might as well be as close to BOTW as u can get in terms of massive open world with regions locked behind towers
one could argue that Far Cry 5 and The Division open worlds are just as well made as BOTW albeit a little different
just because it became a trend to hate Ubisoft the last 5 years doesnt mean the games i mentioned are bad at all, the worlds and the stories and the gameplay is always top tier
difference with BOTW is just a nice artstyle + less handholding + more unknown exploration + gliding
finding and doing all shrines = trash
unoriginal 4 corners map biome = trash
korok seed hunting = trash
boss dungeons = trash
number of unique enemies = trash
all those ac games u mentioned are like way worse versions of witcher
all those ac games u mentioned are like way worse versions of witcher
irrelevant comment i wasnt comparing the quality of the games, i know TW3 is better, my point is that Elden Ring's open world will be more like AC and TW3 than something more original and uniqud
now kindly dont quote me without a point to make

Botw to me does the "open" open world aspect better than all of them.
Botw feels like a playing ground throughout the entirety of the map thanks to the durability system and the "chemistry" system and of course the main concept of being free as soon as you leave the great plateau, with the only real objective being beating ganon, and i, as someone who doesnt value story as much as gameplay in games, was very happy with that.
Also, the world design was to me better, with the help monolith hyrule is full of interesting places to go to that the game never forces you to see, and its gameplay mechanics help make the experience of traversing hyrule personal to everyone. I can go hours talking about what i discovered in the world and how and i know my experience wont be the same as others, and to me thats the quintessential feeling of "adventure" open worlds should strive for and the original zelda for the nes was going for. Sharing your stories with others on how you found evertide island or the satoru mountain or how you found the huge ass horse are a main aspect of the game, since you can go to those places at any time and depending on when you might have a easier or harder time, which creates other scenarios and stories to tell. All of this without endless cutscenes or linear missions that are needed to follow in a certain order for the story to progress and reach the end. Like how cool it is to go straight to ganon as soon as you leave the great plateau, when they talked about that at e3 2016 my mind was blown and seeing people doing it today still blows my mind.
The closest an open world gets to this feeling is red dead 2 but that game to me is hindered by its antiquated mission system that hasnt evolved in any open world rocksar game since the ps2 era. The non open world game that comes close to this feeling for me was dark souls 1

botw is revolutionary and i hope more open world games follow what it did instead of what ubisoft is doing by s***ting out these mid ass open world games

Feel like Oblivion set the template for open world games... BOTW just felt so much different because you could climb anything and soar off cliffs

We could go even further back and say the legend of zelda nes was basically the first template for open world games
Cant wait to speak to every npc 5 times each meter i walk to not miss any kind of lore bits and dialogue in true souls fashion

I was gonna but got too lazy to keep typing lol
I think Skyrims success reminded Nintendo what they should be doing with Zelda and so they brought it full circle
