reading the past few pages hilarious
Yeah I was laughing. It's an awful lot of nitpicking lmao
I know ur a big Zelda fan do u feel the game world design is similar?
My general quick take when someone asks what Elden Ring is like i tell them "its like BOTW x Skyrim but in Souls & its difficulty thrown on top".
Its dope seeing u go thru Monster Hunter for the first time last year n now a Souls game this year, 2 series' considered really "obtuse n difficult". Just like me with BOTW when originally i wasnt a big fan of Zelda prior but here i am waiting anxiously for BOTW2
Ocarina of Time was literally the first video game I ever played and beat at like less than 8 years old. I’m a huuuuge LOZ fan and have played basically all of them up to TP, and then BOTW. Dark souls from the START of the franchise allllways felt like a more “mature/adult” LOZ with more complicated difficulty/combat.
DS1 absolutely gave me the exact same feeling I had exploring Hyrule as a kid and now ER recreated that experience again for me.
They reimagined the idea of “dungeons” from LOZ in soulsborne. ER the most obvious because there is a clear cut different between the open world and the legacy DUNGEONS just like OoT.
There isn't unless im blind there was only 1 unique enemy between those 3 areas which are the archers in the consecrated snowfield. All the other enemies you have encountered in the game before.
You want brand new monsters, but I thought they did a pretty good job making variants. Like in the Mountaintop of the Giants, the Troll giants now have fur and can use ice attacks and cause frostbite. The giant crows of caeled are here too with a variant. You can apply this throughout the entire game where even if it's the same monster it's a variant with different attack patterns. The Bell Bearing knight is the only enemy I came across that is the exact same except depending on the location he's faster and hits like a Truck.
I'll use another example, the Erdtree Burial Watchdog was different each time I fought it and gave me issues early game and late game especially when they mixed it up and made it be two of them with different attack types and elements.
I think people wanting "monster variety" are heavily underestimating what FromSoft has done and not realizing that they actually did give variety. It's full break downs on YouTube how the enemies even the fodder act differently depending on the location.

Yeah i’m talking about brand new monsters, just my opinion but I don’t think giving the monsters new elements makes them any different. Just like the dragons being given new elements doesn’t make them any different. You still approach them the same exact way and them being given new elements isn’t something you even think about when approaching them. I didn’t notice the enemies doing anything different depending on the zone they are in.
Again it’s a minor complaint and as I said before this type of reuse of assets is pretty much expected with a game of this scale. I’m not going to knock points off the game for something like this. But it also doesn’t mean I had fun fighting the Burial dog for like the 7th time. Multiplying the amount of bosses doesn't make it unique to me
Not saying the game is bad after the halfway point, just saying it gets worse, this is something from are known for, they start off really strong but can’t stay consistent
Never heard this criticism before
And I'm not entirely done with Bloodborne yet, but it's been pretty consistently great up to the point I'm at (Lady Maria). Yharnam was a highlight for sure, but the atmosphere and environment of that lecture building with the gurgling enemies was amazing

Yeah it’s actually a pretty common criticism iirc, but it’s just another way of saying Fromsoft games start off f***ing strong, these games are usually incredible from start to finish with a few exceptions.
Bloodborne and Sekiro actually don’t suffer too much from this tbh, they’re pretty consistent but i prefer the first half of Bloodborne
That nigga Crucible Knight is crazy
Yep, he’s very fun to fight though, phase 1 you can bait his lunge attack, dodge into/to the side and get 1 hit in. Dodging the shield is pretty easy to, just dodge to the side if you are close to him as soon as you see him use his shield to attack, dodge backwards if you’re not hugging him. After phase 1 it’s harder to hit him because of his tail, so you’ll have to bait the shield attack and the earthquake into sword slam move he does.
Anyone having trouble with coop? Been trying to summon one of my friends but can’t see his summon sign no matter what I do. Let’s me invade just fine though
the beginning of the game was way more fun than the end
IMO the game really ramps up after getting to Leyndell. Besides Radahn no boss before the Capitol compares to some of the late game bosses; Maliketh, Hoarah Loux, Malenia, etc.
I feel people like the beginning of games like these more because your underpowered so it’s much more of a challenge
I’m probably definitely overleveled but I JUST got to the mountaintops at level 130
And there hasn’t been something that really gave me a challenge after I hit level 100
Godfrey, Mohg, Morgott…. Beat each of them on my 2nd try
Jump attacks with dual halberds is just OP and I’ve gotten so much better at roll dodging…. The only times I really die is cause of stupid s*** or me being lazy
I haven’t used a spirit summon in a long time
That nigga Crucible Knight is crazy
I think the fight in Redmane Castle where you have to handle Misbegotten Warrior and Crucible Knight at the same time in a messy little tight arena was one of the hardest fights for me so far. I was around level 65 when I beat them a few days ago. Now I’m like 76 or so.
I be knowing they about to do a feint and trick my ass after dying 50 times and I still roll and get slaughtered.

Tell me how you feel after getting through mountaintop lmao
What do we think of Stakes of Marika? A welcome convenience, or something that disrupts the essential 'run to the boss' flow of Soulsborne gameplay?
They're optional either way so
Tell me how you feel after getting through mountaintop lmao
at 130 he’ll be completely fine in the Mountaintops lmfao that s*** was easy at lvl 90
Got the plat. Ran through NG+ 1 & 2 so quickly to get the ending trophies but I'm gonna play through properly again.
