You have to go to the exact vantage point (some can be really hard to find) and look at the painting in your inventory, each one has unique rewards

I'm thinking about starting a third after taking a good amount of time off from playing since I just binged it so much when it dropped to the point I got bored. Just not sure if it's going to keep my interest again. There is def some side content that I've yet to do though

I always got the vibe you'd have to find the exact location, Breath of the Wild has a similar mechanic, I spent a lot of time looking before, but after getting nothing I looked up to find out the process and didn't realise you had to look at the item in your inventory at the right place, then I just used the paintings to find the right place without searching online, it's tricky because of how small they are, but they definitely have enough landmarks in each one to help you find the right spot
