man i tried this when it came out didn’t like it because i was bad but i came back to it yesterday doing a different class and man i love this so much

Every so often I'll fall away from this game and think I overhyped it in my head, then I'll get back in and something will be there to stun me with the simple fact that this is one of the greatest games of all time

Doing an incantation only playthrough has been absolutely incredible, on ng+4 now and still doing insane damage

Classes honestly don't matter. It's just starter gear that's different besides the stat differences. You can start as depraved and still do well. It's just about the grind. If you go to ruin area right below the gate where you get the ring at, you can just farm the big knight to get his armor which is great for early to mid game, plus using their sword you get from chest there. The rest is just the grind of leveling up.

They matter to a beginner though. Yeah long term they don’t but if you’ve never played a souls game, your starting gear can have a big effect on your initial impressions.

bro this game is kicking my ass, but I got slightly better after a month and a half. By that time I was burnt out. S*** is so hard I had to find balance so I put on a bethesda game with all types of mods feeling like a god (edit) skyrim or Insomiac spiderman and Im good

Ok boys, what should I do next?

I took a break for a couple months after repeatedly getting bodied by Fire Giant.

Started playing again a few weeks ago, then beat most of the optional bosses at the Mountaintop, then Fire Giant, then beat Astel, finished Ranni’s quest line, then beat Nial, and now I got to Malenia lol.

From my understanding, once I talk to Melina at Forge of Giants Site of Grace that’s the point of no return and I won’t be able to do any more side quests but I still want to finish dung eater’s questline and do Fia’s questline as well.

But I also don’t think I’ll be able to beat Malenia anytime soon lol, so what should I do next?

Tldr: what should I do next? Can’t beat Malenia and I don’t want to burn the erdtree yet because I still want to do side quests.
