been playing video games all my life and it baffles me to say this but this might be the best game i’ve ever played. There’s just something magical about that first playthrough.
Those first moments in limgrave felt so grand yet rather funny looking back cause i had absolutely no clue what was going on. The world felt insanely huge and just fighting my way through the weeping peninsula felt like a game of its own. Thought my save was f***ed when that one trap chest took me to caelid, felt like hell just being there. After defeating godrick i realized that this might be the one, that view over Liurnia will never get out of my head. The fact that there was so much more to see and to do, so many more fights that were going to keep me at the edge of my seat… i was so shocked. Places like the underground cities, the volcano manor and the sewers had me triple guessing if i missed out on some area when progressing. Quest lines like Rannis were just the cherry on top for me. The games atmosphere is just unmatched in my eyes.
And to think that i completely randomly bought it out of boredom, i had never even played a souls title before. I had to write a long ass thesis for uni during the release and every evening with elden ring felt so rewarding. Some days i didn’t even get to writing, just ran up this masterpiece again while lighting up a joint with my roommate. Maybe it’s those moments that make the game so great to me and it just feels so marvelous cause it all happened during a special time in my life.
My only critique is that my reward for discovering everything and taking my time was being way too overpowered. The late game could’ve been even better if they managed to balance that. Malenia still took me ages lol.
It’s the greatest adventure game because that first playthrough genuinely captures being on this massive journey discovering new things and lands and places.
Need DLC this game was too good. I need another 10 hours and I'll f*** off.
I've done everything atp

Bro, I haven’t even beaten thru the game yet and even still I have fond memories of when the game first came out, exploring all these unique regions and all the antics that came with it

One of these types of games where you wish you could play it all again for the first time
I keep trying to start new runs and then realize I don’t wanna burn myself out pre-DLC. The itch is so strong tho

How many runs you done? I’ve done like 3 full out runs and maybe 3-4 more incomplete runs/builds

2 full runs by myself, 1 run with the homie

have the same issue but my problem is I'm trying to look for the perfect build lmao, and trying not to miss anything the second time around. I've done so much reading/watching prospective builds rather than play it through

Just replay DS 1-3 and BB like i did
I just CANT get over how f***ing GOOD this game is. Absolutely insane how much content there is to explore. I’m pretty sure I’ve found everything in the game but it’s still staggering.
Really hope the DLC slaps but I feel like they have sooo much lore/content to explore more in depth that there’s no way they can hit all the s*** I’m interested to learn more about.

he’s not too bad brother, keep at it
a tip: he doesn’t have many attacks and they’re all easy to dodge, just focus on roll timing
I can't believe I made it all the way to Elden Beast and just could never beat it

Na i get it, he hits hard as s*** and the game tempts you to fight him on horseback, but it’s much easier on foot imo
glad you’re hanging in there tho it’s well worth it

Spawn people in till you find the person that doesn't give af about your experience and Comet Azurs him in 5 seconds
One thing I just thought of and haven’t seen mentioned is how effective Elden Ring has been in getting the mainstream to be ok with in depth RPG stats and leveling mechanics in an action game.
Where a lot of devs approach to getting mainstream popularity in action RPG’s (skyrim especially) has been to oversimplify their stat/perk system, it’s nice to see a dev say “fuck you, you gonna learn” and still see mainstream success. I think RPG mechanics add a lot of fun to action games when they’re done well.
Made a faith dex build and am mostly using the Magma Blade’s ash of war it literally melts big enemies. I’m overleveled for Radahn but I killed him before he could even go meteor and start his second phase just by spin2win
Kinda nervous for the fire giant tho since I won’t be able to use fire damage
