the late-game areas and bosses in this game might be the most poorly balanced From has ever done.
really enjoyed the majority of this game but the final quarter or so just hasnt been enjoyable tbh.
also i feel like this game doesnt let you play your own way like previous Souls games did.
before it was easy to play blind because there was not that much disparity in quality between the different weapons and classes.
now you’ve got a huge gap between the ‘bad’ weapons and OP s*** like rivers of blood + buffs, talismans etc and thats all stuff you’re more than likely going to have to look up online to find them in this massive game.

Use markers! They're so important in such a big game. Mark any points of interest you've already explored and you'll always be looking in new spots for items or other secrets.

Eh there’s people who beat the using a level 1 wooden club lol
I only ever used RoB for Malenia
You can beat this entire game using any weapons you want really
I mean you gotta use weapons that scale with your build if you’re doing a specific build but I got through the entire game using a seal in one hand and GUTS Greatsword in the other…. Duel wielding Golden Halberd and Banished Knight’s Halberd…. Duel wielding Frozen Needle and Antspur Rapier…. Duel wielding Claymore and Knight’s Greatsword
There was the dude in here that beat the entire thing with powerstanced Caestus’

I get what you’re saying. There’s a lot of side content that hides weapons/spells that could be crucial for your build and unless you turn over every stone you might not find it so you need to look it up.
But I think if you’re really into the game playing blind had me exploring everyyyyything. They also give a respec option relatively early in the game at what’s probably most people’s “second” boss.
I def agree that mountaintop of the giants has a huge sudden difficulty increase. The enemies there have crazy high hp and damage output for what level most people probably hit it at.
Bleed builds are def op throughout most of the game but when they hit the last boss they’re gonna be in for a rude awakening lol

yeah i feel you about the exploration. at the beginning of the game it was like that where i wanted to see it all, but once i realised that a lot of the dungeons copy the same formula of just a super generic level in one of three formats (catacombs, mine or cave) with a boss at the end, i felt less and less inspired to explore everything.
the bosses they put at the end of these dungeons are super random too and sometimes are just regular enemies with boss health bars or something you’ve fought somewhere else. why tf they thought it was a good idea to put a 2nd astel in a random cave ill never know. kinda killed the magic and coolness of the other one lowkey.

Ever since patch 1.06 & 1.07 pretty much every weapon in the game is viable and able to become OP lol

yeah i can’t believe dude actually said that
From has given us a game with hundreds of viable ways to play it, and just cuz mfs can’t walk straight through the progression of the game and find every single weapon and spell that matches their niche build it means “you can’t play your own way like old souls games :( why would I ever use anything except the best possible equipment that 100% matches my build??”

yeah maybe you can beat the game with a club if you’re some sweaty nerd who has memorised every single animation in the game but its not going to be true for most players lmao
example: i was having a blast using an ultra greatsword build but when i got to maliketh i had to respec into katanas and coward magic because that boss is almost impossible to hit with a slow weapon. keeping your distance and using lord of flies while your summon keeps it distracted is absolutely trash gameplay compared to Gherman, Twin Princes or Owl Father. those are absolutely epic 1v1 fights that are permanently implanted in my brain. elden ring lacks this because the amount of BS they injected into some of the late game fights incentivises abusing every mechanic possible instead of just having a fun and memorable fight.

That might’ve been me with the spiked Caestus lmao still my most fun build
Hourah Loux basically no dodges

Yeah Maliketh is a b**** for slow weapons, on my caestus build I had to summon help because his hitbox is broke af literally impossible to hit with the fists unless you jump R2 him
93 hours in & I still haven’t beaten this game
I'm like 120 hours in Bloodborne, I'm trying to get the platinum and I'm 4 trophies away. Plus I'll have to replay the entire game again because I locked myself out of one of the endings. I just want my hunt to be over
Why did a bunch of bat emojis pop up on my screen?!
Hunt? Blood? Wtf, what word triggers that

was it Bloodborne
EDIT: No

Bloodborne is actually one of like 5 games I've ever platinum'd
Trophies
Yeah, it's that for some reason
I just got bats too though so maybe it is Bloodborne or just Blood
Yeah it is haha

I don't have PS Plus, so I have to beat the Pthumerian Queen without glyphs. Defiled chalice is crazy, I don't think I have the patience to deal with getting one shotted by bosses
I can't believe people say this platinum is easy to get, there's so much you have to do. Especially if you ate the three umbilical cords early on like I did, you have to playthrough the game at least twice
Yeah, it is blood
