I definitely felt a lot of comparisons to the og My Bloody Valentine. I'd love to see Eli Roth make more slashers cause this might be his best work (along with Hostel) tbh.
I still prefer both Hostel’s, Cabin Fever, and honestly even Knock Knock, but this is very close. I just prefer when Roth makes works that lay messy sociocultural subjects and morality out and highlights our contradictions in how we conceptualize them. He’s at his best when he’s being a troublemaker. As great as this is—it plays out more as an easy crowd pleaser. Critics who were uncomfortable with his older work are eating this up. That’s probably cause it’s kinda safe in a way, but I’m still really happy with it.

agreed, you hit the nail on the head with the underlying themes in his past films (especially my favorite Hostel) this is definitely his most accessible film albeit still a really fun watch. I gotta give Knock Knock another try cause I was kinda sour on it when I first watched
god imagine if this got made fifteen years ago and Michael Biehn actually played the sheriff

Yeah I get that with Knock Knock. But if you’re gonna give it another try then go in viewing it as a dark comedy about modern double standards within the sexes. It’s also just really funny and h****. The “free pizza” rant towards the end is an all timer movie speech.
DAM OK SPOILER MAN
Sorry to let you know a supporting character dies in a slasher movie.
We will not be seated.
I wanted to see this but I’ll now be pirating it
Only way I buy the blu ray is if it’s a bootleg
hey, just curious, does this movie address in anyway the genocide of the native peoples of the north american continent?

I think you’re looking for the wrong movie
The black Friday and dinner scene going to be stuck in my head for awhile. Roth snapped with those moments. I'm down for a Thanksgiving 2
I loved it, but I don’t know if it really needs a sequel. I’m only on board with this if he fully turns it into the indulgent sleazy exploitation film the original trailer was. He pulled back on this one for mainstream success and I totally get that decision, but now he can kinda go crazy with it lol.

This is what I am hoping for in the sequel
Came out on VOD
It's some real top of the bell curve stuff for Roth standards
we will be pirating in solidarity with Palestine!
