TheoryThe disproportionate amount of crime is not nearly as disproportionate when factoring in wealth. The total number of black Americans and white Americans in poverty is pretty close despite there being a lot more white people. If you look at the crime rates of poor black Americans and poor white Americans it’s going to be pretty damn close.
Skin color isn’t what’s causing crime, it’s poverty. And centuries of s***ty treatment of minorities has led to disproportionate poverty in the black community.
