Americans are typically on the higher end of all those standards. Geography is the only tough one, but it's understandable because we have 50 states, that are the size and population of other countries. Of course other countries will know more about America than we know about them because we have a lot of the major attractions in the world, and they are introduced to American media at a young age. In Australia I heard Take Me Home Country Roads maybe monthly. If you hear it, why wouldn't you know where West Virginia is? If I watch Friends, I'm gonna know NYC. South Park, Colorado. Listen to Future, Atlanta. We don't get that exposure to other countries from a young age.
Also, the literacy rate is about 90%. It's not in the top 10, but it is on the higher end of the spectrum.
you think the average american knows where WV is on the map? knowing future is from atlanta doesn't mean you know where georgia is. Outside of the main popular states and the freebies like alaska and hawaii, i don't think those mfs are doing well
like 90% can read cool, yet like more than a third can only read at a junior high level
Like 1/3 of that isn't something that can be done consistently, selling regulatory credits to their future competition. Tesla is a mess, but it's not something I really wanna get into. I have a master's degree in business and business a***ysis is my real-life job, so discussions like that just feel like work. Just look into it a bit, there are a ton of people smarter than me and with more experience who also think it's not run very well or very stable.
is that why people were always saying him and tesla's performance were volatile

Americans frequently fail to grasp common historical facts and geopolitical matters. I’m sure they could describe prominent capitals like NYC, Atlanta…. but ignorance is ripe.
Many people ran with the birther movement when Obama was President in full force

If you hear it, you're more likely to be interested in it, more likely to learn more about it. And yes, the average American I'm sure knows about where West Virginia is on a map. Maybe not the exact shape, but within a few states? I would guess, yes. The idea that Americans are more stupid than any other average country just doesn't hold up by any measurable standard.
And according to the Office of National Statistics the average reading level of an adult in the UK is 9. Not 9th grade. The reading level of a 9 year old.

did you mean the US? cause i was only looking at that tool and the forbes thing that cites it, and didn't say none about the UK
you way more optimistic about how smart americans are than i am that's for sure. within a few states wouldn't count by my standards, which means they're prob f***ed on s***s like iowa and idaho

And other countries don't fail to grasp these concepts?
All it takes is for one person to loudly proclaim something wrong for it to become widely accepted. This is well documented and is part of our instinctual human nature.
Every country has widely proclaimed "facts" that aren't actually true.
so why are ppl losing their minds and how is musk any different from the faceless people who run these type of companies ?
I’m surprised he actually did it. This could be a good thing if he unbans prominent figures, gets rid of bots, and prevents censorship like what happened with posts about Covid that later turned out to be true

Basically a lot of Elon supporters and conservatives think this is a big win for them because it’ll restore “free speech” to twitter. People against it are basically just saying Elon is a rich billionaire and isn’t here to protect your interests.
Realistically Twitter will just continue to get more commercialized and turn into a platform more and more for influencers, celebrities to expand their brand.
I don’t think Twitter will start censoring the left, if they do that it would be hypocritical

They already do censor the left …

In simplest form anyways

No, I meant the UK. I don't know what you mean by Forbes thing. There are a ton of studies with data about a large number of adults in the UK having very little reading ability, lowering the average substantially. I don't say that to say "people from the UK are dumb". I'm just saying that the world on average isn't very smart, that's why it's called average. There are some smart people everywhere, there are some dumb people everywhere. The reasons people call Americans dumb don't make sense. Of course a British person is gonna know where Germany is, it's the distance from NY to Michigan. 🤦🏽♂️
America is one of the world leaders in scientific advancement, technological advancement, cultural impact, art, production, and a lot of other things. It's not perfect, but acting like America is more imperfect or more immoral or more stupid, is just a result of many developed countries not liking exceptionalism and wanting to "bring Americans down a peg"
They already do censor the left …
The real left, yes. Liberals crying about potentially being banned have nothing to worry about

Man paid 44 billion for a company that doesn't profit .. and you think his goal is for profit?
