now, if instead of writing credits, he were complaining abt the spotify playlisting monopoly/process
that's a whole other topic, spotify encourages all kinds of pay-to-win
yeah it's true and has been the case for ages, for many top artists
but that doesn't invalidate the music, nor make it not 'real' (fake, for convenience)
absolutely it doesn't invalidate s***, i didn't get the word choice of "real" either.
people derive substance from work with commercial intent, u see it everywhere
i find it pretty disingenuous to use artistic intent as a vehicle for commercial goals and commodification
Most definitely, they got away cause the main product they were selling back then was the LP. You knew who were famous for their live performances like James Brown,Queen,Michael Jackson etc and then you had album artist. Hell no you can’t get away with it now cause too much is on display, they let us see what they wanted us to see back then.
It’s Kendrick,Ye and Drake in that order(maybe we should throw in J.Cole too)
it's sad really, the amount of artists who can really bring it live now is probably a lot less than Elton's era too. so we lacking in both areas and what we've gained for it is more celebrity access lol
Idk about Cole, he might need more writers and producers not less

Stage presence do you have a social media presence babe cause if you do,we can work with that
(J.Cole could use some more producers tho)

do you think in 50 years people will be saying 'i remember when stars had that real social media presence, there's no real stars anymore'
he could definitely use more producers. there's so much he could do if he opened up more with his production choices
pretty sure he's never written a single one of his own songs
i'm not a big fan but he wrote pretty much all his songs. he put bernie taupin's lyrics to music and melodies...
i love lyrics but for a lot of listeners, especially elton john listeners the music and melody are the most important part
Elton John is right, a lot of these artists get their songs written by an AI, real rap!!!
Why do fat ass old white people come up with the lamest excuses to hate on black music
elton john f***s with hip hop
dont be so sensitive he doesnt fall into the boomer hater old white category
i guess as long as youre white theres a free pass to get hate on now
elton is a legend and will be respected as such
foh
Well, not everyone is able to be like Prince, for instance.
that's why it shouldn't even be a debate about prince bring a goat over any other artist from his era. there were others too in the 80s like bruce or public enemy, but he was the most influential, iconic one consistently expressing his ideas with no writers needed.
we all enjoy all the other music, but we shouldn't underrate how major it is to have an artist like Prince just cos some of our favourite artists could never be on his level. I'd love to see another Prince one day
racism

Nah,the world gonna be on to something new by then and all the bullshit today gonna be forgotten with time. Just like how people don’t use flip phones anymore, today’s rap is gonna get thrown just like that because of how it tried to monetize and turn itself into a product instead of creating real moments and connecting with the people on a human level.
J.Cole boring regardless tbh
