I'm 22 and have been following music blogs since 2007, literally seen all the current hot artists come up from being nothing

You got nearly a decade listening to and covering this music s***? You ever had a twitter account with thousands of followers because of you sharing your two cents on music? You get reached out to by heads at Universal when you were 19, asking if you would be interested in helping them find new artists?

I was doing street team s*** for f***ing Thank Me Later when half this forum was literally 8-12 years old, f*** out of my face with your dumbass presumptions

This is my second account for f***s sakes and it's twice as old as yours, been on KTT for nearly 4 years

They’re all objectively good albums, but the corniness of his style is hard to ignore when listening back with the knowledge of everything that came Recovery onwards. Subjectively I genuinely don’t enjoy relistens of them these days

why would anything later effect the work that came before it? if its good its good... idgaf if em fell off (imo he has his moments, mmlp2 had some, and a few other songs i liked) but still, he has classics for a reason. like to me it just sucks its become cool to hate em just to hate him cause "LOL HE OLD" "FAST RAP OLD MAN" "DUMB BALD B**** F*** CORNY B****" like I get it, but bro come on. Don't let others opinions effect you, kinda lame tbh

I don't care what anyone says, yeah some of it is 20 years old, and I have to be in a certain mood to listen to Em, but when I do its always fun.

Honestly I get your perspective, but I have to stand on it. You’re entirely right that it tends to be a dog pile opinion, but frankly I’ve had it a while. I’m not actually put off as much by the fast rap stuff (imo he still stands leagues ahead of the NFs of the world in that respect) as I am by the actual lyrical style and choices of wordplay. The songs that are obviously meant to be fun or inflammatory have gone from being exciting if a bit over the top to just lame, the hits barely work in a party setting anymore and they don’t stand on their own as enjoyable to revisit in album context.

Idk, there are plenty of songs that do still hold up (Relapse imo falls more into the “this is for a very specific mood but still hits in that mood” category to your point) but yeah. Granted it’s been a couple years now since I’ve gone back through his pre Relapse projects; this might have inspired me to give him a try again. I may have just grown out of his style to be entirely fair, his peak was during my
middle-high school years and frankly not a lot from that time appeals in the same way to me lmao

1. I get your perspective too, that's fine I was being a bit hyperbolic to be fair, and kind of stating my opinion towards the groupthink that I do think arises more often than not around this topic.
2. I agree some of the corny wordplay is newer songs is annoying, I enjoy songs without it.
3. The hits are usually not as good as the lesser known tracks, but also not necessarily
4. I completely agree, sometimes when I'm drunk there's been a few times at a party I've thrown on Must Be the Ganja/Hello or something from Relapse. Ironically a few of those songs as odd as they are go pretty hard, the beats produced by Dre hold up massively and the wordplay, lyrics and flows are bar none. Only thing bringing it down is the accents/experimental horrorcore style but again, if you can overlook that and just vibe with it it's not bad.
5. Bringing me to my last response, I do agree, my peak Eminem fandom was age 10- highschool but I still will always have a soft spot of nostalgic love for some Eminem when I'm in a certain mood. It's entirely fine to grow out of certain artists from your youth, but I still enjoy it occasionally and I'm in my late twenties.

he’s right btw. if you’re white theres always gon be a hesitation to crown you as one of them ones because from the moment you show up “culture vulture” is in the back of everyone’s head lol. people try to use Eminem as the example that whiteness is an advantage in rap but if anything it is an automatic disqualifier lol.

I don’t fw him enough to really “defend” him or argue about it but up until maybe 05 he earned at least a spot in history. Top 5-10 and s*** is whatever but to objectively just act like Em was trash or whatever when he was at his peak/ignore the influence he’s had on guys like Kendrick or Chance cause he white is crazy lol.

I don’t think the culture aside from other white rap fans would generally accept any white rapper over say Hov/Nas/3Stacks/Pac/Biggie/Wayne/Kenny/Drake/Ye as the GOAT tbh
