iTunes Store wasn't a thing til 03 lol

    Limewire got popping in 05.

'02-'03 was like the sendoff for people buying albums

KAZAA AND NAPSTER you f***ing zoomer

pirating and internet access only helped artists reach more people, thus getting more fans (who eventually buy albums)

Anytime I see one of you barnacle heads say this mean you really have no idea how big mj truly was

Oh. I know MJ is way more famous overall but I'm saying that Eminem was arguably the most popular person alive in 2002 just like MJ in 1984. That's all I'm saying.

Nah, they never put up album sales like those artists

Fleetwood Mac went 2x DIAMOND (20,000,000 US sales)

Y’all make it seem easier than it really is.

Can he be less corny and tone down the unnecessary internal rhyme schemes and s***? Sure. But to keep connecting with a new generation of fans is extremely hard.

    No lol

    Maybe Wayne but not Ye

Drake, Kendrick Lamar, The Weeknd, Beyonce, Rihanna, Taylor Swift, and Adele are the only artists bigger than Kanye rn

Eminem’s peak popularity at least rivals any rappers peak popularity that really indisputable

  • Sep 22, 2021
    Unforgivable

How did he fumble, when he sold 1 million first week pure before streaming was even a thing lol, still no rapper has even managed to come close

Because he could’ve been WAY bigger than he is now

TES/8 Mile was just the beginning, and he hasn’t been able to surpass it in sales or hits since then. Obviously he was still hugely successful even after because he gained a loyal fanbase with his first 3 albums

The Eminem Show sold 30 million copies worldwide

Are you kidding me with some streaming numbers?

  • Sep 22, 2021
    Nothing Was New

This man was really MJ level of fame in 2002, huge Star with 8 Mile movie and The Eminem Show and Marshall Mathers LP were getting 10s of millions of sales

    https://twitter.com/mainlyeminem/status/1086665051757531137

There’s literally a sign that said “Eminem is GOD” it was really that serious

And then the d*** addiction got worse and he dropped Encore, which was only successful because of his fame off of The Eminem Show.

Imagine if he went a different route. He could’ve easily been on a Drake type run where he ran the charts effortlessly and dominated the 2000s, he would have definitely been bigger than Kanye and Wayne at their popularity primes (07 and 08)

And The Eminem Show was less edgy than his previous two releases, he was sort of putting on a cleaner and more mature image with the whole 8 mile thing.

eminem from early 2000s is f***ing legendary. that's why I named my account after him

Overall sales for their discography yes, but Thriller is the best-selling album of all time. 110,000,000 copies sold worldwide, 66,000,000 in the USA.

Im honestly so tired of Eminem threads
Like let it go some artists just don’t age gracefully and fail to put out anything meaningful in the back end of their career
