Overall sales for their discography yes, but Thriller is the best-selling album of all time. 110,000,000 copies sold worldwide, 66,000,000 in the USA.

    True thriller is THE album

Overrating the influence of Napster rn

  • Jbreezyondeck

Napster was a huge deal back in the early 00s

    I remember lol

Albums were still selling crateloads then too

  • betweenthebars

The album sales slump wasn't a thing til the mid-to-late 2000s tbh

Nelly, Em, 50, Luda, Jay, OutKast, etc, were flying off shelves. This is the Boy Band era we're talking about.

Not anymore Kanye is definitely a bigger artist than em at this current moment in time look at the streaming differentials

I mean...Kanye is definitely more musically relevant but he's not more famous than Eminem worldwide.

you do realize that in MJ times... people BOUGHT the albums?

It was way easier back then. MJ wouldn't do anywhere near 7 million fw now.

I still think Eminem is more well known than Kanye overseas. There's murals of Eminem in Cambodia and s*** lol.

You could argue Ye's more famous in North America though.

    Lotta dull bulbs itt lol

Record sales began to tank in 04-05, between leaks and iTunes albums were down terrible by that point. 2002-2003 was like peak music industry, s*** was filthy. NSYNC went double platinum first week in 2000 lol

I'm not a fan but he didn't fumble anything

He was very popular, one of the best selling artists of all time and had great longevity and would still do decent numbers today
