Look all I meant with that growing up response is he is used to insults thrown at him and then coming back with witty s***. He was underdog wherever he went, y'all comparing him to Jay and Nas I'm sure they were considered gods whenever they came to battle but for Em he would be called corny instantly cause he's white. That mentality is what raised him, made him legend in countries where people don't speak English and it won't change ever imo .
I'm saying that the EP was dope and part of it even ended in the SSLP. Em was mad talented. Dre didn't sign him for no f***ing reason. He was signing a white dude, he knew it wasn't a good idea unless he had something special.
And he always said his uncle got him into rap
That something special got passed up on by damn near every record label/exec/a&r/weed carrier at the time
Even fat Joe who was close to big L (a true pioneer and lyricist of horror core rap) said no lmao
Idk the full story of why Eminem got signed but I don't believe the
"he was special" narrative when Redman, masta ace, E-sham, Big L existed before an Eminem was thought of
I personally think there was more to it like interscope records being in desperate need of a superstar so they threw a hail Mary and it worked. Idk though fr

MTV has alot to do with him being a legend in countries that don't even speak English
Branding, sir, BRANDING
Yeah. Bizarre said they would hide him in the back on some boxer s*** to surprise people and give a show tho. He said he was destroying people.

He had something, Interscope didn't sign him for no reason. He had a dope EP just like Fif had dope mixtapes.
I listen to every new project he puts out, he's still on that edgy s***

Same thing happened to 50, Nelly, Snoop, Jay. Em just went hard with touring and kept himself interesting.
How you think we discovered them before the Internet lol

Em can't be the only one that was passed on multiple times. And the EP is there and it's dope. That was his whole Slim Shady persona before even signing.

Marketing is important for all big acts yes
I don't think he went hard with touring though
There were tours canceled due to his addiction issues - I remember seeing a lil doc for recovery era Eminem in which they said he doesn't tour alot
KTT tires me out sometimes, most of y'all have 0 reading comprehension/twist what ppl say into what you want them to

He was rejected by 10 labels before that tho. I don't remember clearly but maybe Fat Joe said he himself rejected him 3-4 times. S*** wasn't easy as y'all make it to be.

That was the Euro tour at his peak lol before that he was all over Europe and the US. 50 copied that and took it further performing in even more places like Africa. That's how you build an international fan base and why he sold more than Ye outside.

If I remember right, Fat didn't even listen to it

As Jay-Z said, Eminem is historically no-tour-ious. He didn't like being away from his kids and he spent a good fifteen years focusing on his family.
I think like you say he focuses more on overseas tours to maintain a following but he doesn't tour that much in the USA

He doesn't tour period lol after the overdose he stopped touring. I know some people will say he does tour, but he does like 2 shows a year now, that's not even a tour lol. The most he did was like 4 shows with Jay and 4 with Rihanna in different years.
And I'm not mad, since I would rather see him making more music since I don't go to shows anyway. And he already built a huge fanbase that's going from parents to sons now growing even more.
And his fan base isn't just Europe like some people love to say. He did some shows in Latin America not that long ago cause they love him over there.

He only did that Revival tour that year, that other s*** isn't shows lol, no way he would do 111 shows. It was just the Revival tour.
And he went harder since the album was trashed so hard. He was even signing cds. I haven't seen Em signing cds since the MMLP lol
