crazy how fantano endorsed and supported guys like Sam Hyde who is known for his edgy shock humor and association with the alt right and actual Nazis but since he got called out for it tries so hard to be the polar opposite
"what would my Jewish viewers think if I gave Vultures a proper review"
Idk Anthony what did they think of your alt right content
first half of the album is some of the worst music I put my ear to this year. second half of the album is decent by Eminems standards
It's amazing by Eminem post 2003 standards
It might even be good by general music standards
You really think "Slim Shady" isn't gonna mention pronouns? He's from the 90s it would be weird if he didn't
i aint saying that. I'm saying he coulda made some more clever bars about pronouns rather than just echoing right wing twitter talking points. The transgender cat line is a good example of being clever about it
like okay you dont like his eminem opinions which are shared by the vast majority of rap fans. you know you can just say that and not reach for the stars trying to find something. him being annoying on twitter has nothing to do with nothing long as you dont go there

I did use 'amazing' when describing some of this album until I realized its really typical of all recent eminem albums to include 1) some of the worst music you may hear that week, 2) one or two generally good rapping tracks, 3) and a bunch of vaguely personal songs with soulful singing not done by skylar grey but by someone who's memorable that will carry that whole album. that was the case on on mmlp2, on revival, on relapse, and probably on his last three but I barely remember them
do you like relapse?
I actually remember liking it! I might listen to it again tomorrow. I remember liking mmlp2 but I played that back in may and it wasnt good

relapse is last good em album before he goes full pop....
good rap album

listening to this album I realized that eminem does music in the way AC/DC do their albums. they have a specific formula and they have it down pat with some wiggle room to shake things around. they haven't written a song that deviates even slightly from that formula for decades
eminem does his music in a similar way, except his formula only clearly works for his fans and not for general rap fans

Eh id say recovery but prob cuz im nostalgic for that era. I liked his initial angry flow in 2010 it was hard

idea for recovery was great
but the way he did it , eh i dont know - it is not convincing
If Em gave us an album of 10-13 tracks with songs with the same tone and intensity of Renaissance, it would be a top 4 Em album
And I think one of Em’s worst habits is that he never cuts the fat out of his albums. There’s always a few tracks on his albums that drag the album down, he should start making shorter projects
I actually remember liking it! I might listen to it again tomorrow. I remember liking mmlp2 but I played that back in may and it wasnt good
Fair take. I still love Relapse and Refill but when I relisten to MMLP2, I mean I liked it then, but it's corny now
This one is like a more solid version of MMLP2 for me personally but only time can tell like last time
All I can do is enjoy it and live in the moment for it rn
If he just cut Road Rage from this album this would feel so much better. That song is trash and feels like way too much of a retread of the content from the Shady tracks. Would’ve helped get to GC2 a bit quicker
Honestly I like more songs I think than I don’t, about what I expected tho. There’s def a lot of cringe on here but I do appreciate how he finally leaned back into what ppl like about him rather than trying to make pop music, being a Bessie boy etc.
He has spoken. I honestly like this alot more than anything he's made in over a decade
What do y'all think of this?
Had his first album when it came out and hate all his music made after 8 Mile to an unreasonable degree but this is pretty good
Trouble and guilty conscience 2 sound like alchemist beats
alc not being on this album is a crime
