I know it gets s***ted on because of the Jamaican accent but I actually really like Relapse. Probably his darkest album but Ems flows were crazy on that album.

He snapped on Stay Wide Awake. Probably one of my fave songs ever from him

Said it many times itt but he couldn’t write a verse during that album era without at least a hint of flow and cadence genius.

And it isn’t the fast rap YouTube tier stuff that he did on the next few albums. Super dense and complex, bouncy rhyme patterns on every verse. And the patterns only work with the accent because it allowed him to bend words into rhyming that wouldn’t with his normal accent.

Honestly the em album I go back to the most. Even if there’s a song where the beat or hook isn’t great, the verses will have genius in em fr

Yeah I agree Em basically became a parody of himself after Relapse imo.

Alot of his flows and delivery on songs now are super technical, with choppy fast rap flows, robotic, and overly complicated.

Like his imitators that try to be like him on YouTube lol

And the punchlines and shock value joles.are super cringey and corny.

Imo Recovery works because it was a completely new vibe for him and was the first to feature that motivational/declarative Em, after that yea you can make that argument tho

Relapse reminds me a ton of Danny Brown’s XXX

Very dark, very hyperactive in its content all to convey an overall depressing and potent message

I know i'm probably in the minority, but Recovery is one of Eminem's best albums in my opinion. I was always a fan of that album. So many great songs on it.

He executed the mature/introspective approach very well.

No lie I been listening to this alot

I think the fact that Megan hasn’t complained or addressed the line yet on twitter is evidence that she doesn’t mind.
She addressed the Drake line within 24 hours, and he was bigger and a bigger potential threat then than Em is now.

Relapse GOATed and Encore is overhated imo.
His only bad album really is Revival to me. Kamikaze ain’t good, but it’s not bad either

Exactly my thoughts, same as you.

So only thing you ain’t mentioned is Music to be Murdered By.

I listened to that album once when it dropped but never went back to it hopefully I understand it more by time I get to it.

I Remember listening to My Darling when i was like 10/11 on youtube. I never heard a em song before This was when Recovery was coming out and I thought he was just the not afraid guy

Scared the s*** out of me as a kid especially that creepy ass hook.

    He killed this song though.

There is a lot of revisionist history that happened for that album. When it dropped everybody was hyped on it and considered it a return to form, some calling it his best since TES. Relapse was seen as a misstep by pretty much everyone back then too, which is why Em disowned it on Not Afraid.

But since he leaned into the pop collabs on MMLP2 and Revival that album has caught more flack retroactively as you can trace the start of those kinds of songs to that album.

Off topic but Ridaz and Session One are two of Em's best songs post 2004
