Nah, rocky has no classics. His music hasn’t aged well and he doesn’t talk about anything of substance. He’s way bigger than he “should” be. His whole trippy gimmick is a facade too. That Netflix documentary on psychedelics when rocky said he’s done em just like twice and he hates em 😂 what a poser

    testing out now

-Lil Wayne's "rockstar" era of the early 2010's where he dropped Rebirth, was pretending to play guitar, skateboarding, and promoting Truckfit.

-Jay's artsy hipster phase of 09-13 where he was promoting "non-urban" brands, high fashion, modern art, traveling in Europe, etc. Some also call it the "Euro Hov" era. Pretty insane how he changed his whole image when 4:44 dropped.

-MC Hammer's "gangster rapper" phase on Death Row in the mid-90's

    -2Chainz as "Tity Boi"

-Chance The Rapper's early 2010's run when he was just a Blog nigga rapping about having everyday problems and doing d****. That "positive gospel" image didn't occur until 2016.

-Lloyd Bank's 2010 run when people thought he was gonna ditch G-Unit for GOOD music.

    -Snoop Dogg's "Snoop Lion" phase

That arc in the mid 2010s where Wiz Khalifa was stacking great single over great single and actively posting vlogs over YouTube that had millions of views

Think the last notable hit in that run was Bake Sale ft. Travis Scott but it gave me one of my favorite songs of all time

@op do u mean 2013-2015 thug when ppl thought he was weird

Nobody rly cared for thug at all till 2013

whenever danny glover, stoner and his feat on about the money dropped which i think was 2014 or they were split those years

those 3 songs at least in my experience was a 3 punch that got him accepted massively (although i know there were memes about him being "sus" for like another year or so, im mainly talm bout irl acceptance n like being played at events/parties)

also the danny glover remix with nicki

before that he wasnt getting any real passes outside of a feat on other songs he just happened to be on

but now, people act like thug was always loved and was always considered "a genius" by people which isnt true - this "revision" has especially happened in the 2020s n idk y - i think the real strory of going from one of the most disliked to one of the most beloved is a way more interesting come up and success story n him literaly breaking down barriers n stereotypes

that feature run from gkmc to tpab was straight ass and i’m a kendrick stan

Not gonna say it was immaculate but there were some good joints in that run too.

Fkn Problems, 1 train, black hippy UENO remix, the joint on SZA’s tape, Really be wit YG, Collard Greens.

The pop/ “crossover” joints weren’t it but when are they ever are?

    F***in Problems
    1train
    Nosetalgia
    Buy the World
    Vice City
    Black Lip B******

    Cmonnnn

Yeah I said the same thing and missed a few of these lol but I guess if we just talkin about those pop records then I get it. But I think it’s held over Kendrick’s head a bit too much for some features from 12 years ago

He didn‘t really take s*** imo they both have produced on the album, they gave him the sound and embraced him. SGP beefed with him later on and he did two songs on it. The Raider Klan s*** was also about aesthetics where I agree that A$AP was biting. But soundwise I think a soup of inspirations is not a bad thing. He flowed like Bone Thugs (some even say like Ye & Wiz too), mixed it with production from a different new era and the peers / best producers have worked on it.

I think people have gassed SGP’s contribution for years. I mean he was the producer.. like you said him and clams produced for Rocky what was he supposed to do on those beats? Cloud rap fizzling out after a few years isn’t the fault of Rocky if anything he helped put the sound on. Both Rocky and SGP wore their influences on their sleeves.
