"On her debut album, titled Preacher’s Daughter, the artist chased more than a compelling collection of songs. She sought to make the next Great American Record." - Wren Sanders

the southern gothic imagery and story of infatuation with dangerous entities is so f***ing exhilarating. What a great album.
The contrast between the upbeat tempo of American Teenager and the sadness that transpires from the lyrics is insane

"the neighbor's brother came home in a box, but he wanted to go so maybe it was his fault"

That's it that's the one that "holy s*** !!!!" me
She's so gifted, she has such a great talent to evoke raw emotions without actually naming any of them explicitly

The album really feels like deep diving in her universe for an hour. What's even more insane is the fact that she pulled this out without a single lost minute on an album full of 6+ minutes tracks

coming from a small southern town myself, the imagery throughout this album is sooooo f***ing vivid to me. feel like i've felt many of the emotions throughout this album at different points growing up.

I'm from Paris and I straight up felt teleported to whatever southern town all of her stories are stemming from.
You saying that you felt the exact same thing but coming from a small southern town yourself really means that she actually really found a way to not dilute the message she was trying to carry behind the music by making both of us feel the exact same thing (despite the fact that we're probably from polar opposite places) She's SPECIAL

TOTALLY agreed! she's so dope and i'm so happy to see how her career evolves from here
I like Lana but Ethel’s approach to this “attracted to danger” type stuff and the Christian iconography is way more real bc she actually lived it right smack dab in the Bible Belt under conservative, Christian parents.
Lana came from a rich family in Manhattan lol
American Teenager is in the top 5 songs of the year so far I really have the replay button on lock
