rviwithin a ~3 day period, they announced a new super league that would be disastrous for the sport with basically everyone being angry at it. it would have benefited the big rich clubs/owners and disregarded traditions that fans cherish. now its all crashing down spectacularly
why would it be disastrous though? wasn't this basically to rival eufa/cl? why is everyone so sure it would be worse for the sport?

Because it would only widen the gap between the teams in this league and every other team in the world without the teams participating ever having their position or pockets threatened, while half participating aren't even in the league based on merit.

TvmimIn theory that sounds great. But the problem is 12 of those teams will have permanent entry to it every year, so there is no sporting merit to the tournament at all. The most important tournament currently is the Champions League, which requires you to finish in the top 4 of their respective European national leagues (top 3 for some) so if you qualify for that tournament, you've earned it based on what you did during the past season.
Wouldn’t the champions league still exist?
Or would these get rid of other leagues or something?
