Perez: The 15 founder teams cannot be relegated
Also Perez: Alot of lies were spread, that football merit is gone
:elon:
A lot of lies have been spread, when this came out it was painted as a UCL alternative but morphed into a a break away from domestic football. It was summed up as just a comp with 15 teams that cant get relegated.
Merit in football is mostly dead, Bayern have won their league 8 years straight, PSG have been similar as well, we can't pretend there's a merit in top flight football

Despite their dominance in their domestic leagues, those teams still have to prove themselves year in year out every season. They are still at threat of being relegated, missing out on Europe if they're not well run. PSG lost the title to Monaco under Unai Emery and this season have been struggling to dominate Ligue 1 like they usually do (they're 2nd right now and only 1 pt ahead of 3rd).
The Super League takes away that threat

Merit is mostly dead so the solution is to kill it off completely? What kind of logic is that?
You are fooling yourself if you think this is about anything else other than billionaires securing there income from the threat that is merit based competition. Kroenke is s***ting himself because he's losing money every year Arsenal are out of the CL. AC Milan would love to not endure what they did the last decade again. Real want monopoly on galactico players like mbappe and haaland etc

Do you think either Arsenal or United are getting relegated any tine soon, both are badly run.
PSG will still be playing in the Champions League ei
he is delusional lol

Wow I’m American and this is my first time hearing such a thing I wonder why they don’t air these games in America or put this league in the official video game

Don't get me wrong I don't f*** with what they have on the table, but I don't think we can fein ignorance and talk about merit, when the positions that matter in all those league are more or less going to the clubs involved.
Who isn't losing money at the moment? The Oil clubs and maybe Bayern are the only ones who can afford to run their clubs while meeting modern expectations. There's a reason the pulling out started with City and Chelsea. They can afford the status quo. PSG are in bed with FIFA

They’ve been airing it in America for years mate

UCL is in Fifa game
he is delusional lol
I'm not sure about him being delusional, the way the news broke and how strongly UEFA reacted is honestly sus, we've seen UEFA give some b****made responses to some serious things all the time, and this conveniently leaks when UEFA are announcing their own vanilla version of the Champions League.

I see sarcasm isn’t ur strong suit bruv
the more i think about, the more it’s obvious how bad this would have f***ed up the game
imagine leicester (who are 3rd with a CL spot) trying to sign a young talent over tottenham (not in european spot). rn it’s a easy decision but imagine if the ESL went through. those clubs would just hoover up all the good signings because it’s closed league, regardless of performance.
they was really tryna rig this s***

Tottenham would get the player in both scenarios
They cancel this yet?
It's been postponed, while the English clubs, Atletico Madrid, AC Milan & Inter Milan are set to file official paperwork to back out completely from the project.
It's essentially dead.
Thread is evidence of why America faces some of the problems they currently do. Bunch of people who don't know s*** about a subject still trying to provide input and solutions instead of sitting back and allowing themselves to be educated by those more informed on it

Y'all are well informed on your perspective
For example, if you're anti-ESL, it's cus you're concerned about how it will change soccer as it currently exists
The other perspective is how soccer will look in the future, disregarding how it currently stands.
So it's not that one side doesn't know. It's that the two viewpoints are totally different
