Eminem even said that Wayne would've bodied him if they battled in Wayne's prime.

That's probably the highest level of praise you can get among superstar mainstream rappers lol

In terms of pure emceeing (Rhyming, Flows, Cadences, etc.) Wayne is easily top 20 at absolute worst. I'm not even a huge Wayne fan but dude is talented af.

The only knock on Wayne is that his album discog isn't very strong and he doesn't have as much content depth as some of the other GOATs imo.

Wayne had 3 classic albums and like 4563145 classic mixtapes

Mixtapes are a grey area for me.

It seems like people pick and choose when to view mixtapes on the same level as albums. For example, people will give Gucci credit for putting out countless tapes, but someone like a 50 Cent, Lloyd Banks, Lupe, Fabolous, Currensy, etc. have very strong mixtape catalogs that never get taken into GOAT consideration imo.

If we are viewing tapes as just as important as albums, then Wayne's discog obviously gets a huge boost, but if we take the Album >>> Tape approach, then I think there are rappers that are more consistent artistically.

But in terms of talent and impact alone, I'd still have Wayne as top 5-10 even with not knowing how to weigh tapes with albums.

This may burst y'all bubble but you gotta understand that Wayne being a GOAT is something only hip-hop fans and the hip-hop community at large knows

The average joe who is completely removed from understanding the culture only views wayne for surface level s***: weird alien voice, pop-rap songs, drinks lean, and has a lack of substance in his lyrics.

    It sucks but yeah

90% of the general audience outside of the culture have the same cringey views on wayne as the em stan memes from 2010-11

Even to this day. Or he's just the guy who drinks lean and has seizures.

Real MC'n was going down in the early 2000s and i guess wayne (and gillie the kid) wrote a few hot bars and blam, calls himself the best mc alive and noone was taking it serious till maybe 2006 when he dropped the "Show Me What You got''freestyle.
that s*** was hot no lie, but damn me if u think that is the epitome of MC''n
again, im not even trying to hate i bumped carter 2 last night.

    Its not just his catalog

Its his influence and style that still to this day is noticeable among new artists

The leaned out xanny autotune dreads aesthetic is still a popular style that Wayne had in 2007

His best work came from leaks in 07-08 that many young rap listeners never got a chance to experience
