Im just glad im not dumb or white enough to think Little Wayne is a top 10 mc of all time. So glad.

I mean it’s right there in your name. You’re an old head. Your views on what makes someone a great MC are outdated if Wayne isn’t up there or even in the conversation.

I didn’t even say all that, I said if Wayne isn’t in your top ten or even in the conversation, then your point of view on rap is outdated. Sure there are artists that made music before him that I would also put up there. But to ignore his ability is just ludicrous and comes across as your name put it best. An old head. Nothing wrong with that, you admit to it. It is what it is.

    Its not just his catalog

Its his influence and style that still to this day is noticeable among new artists

The leaned out xanny autotune dreads aesthetic is still a popular style that Wayne had in 2007

His best work came from leaks in 07-08 that many young rap listeners never got a chance to experience

Wayne will never get the respect from casuals that he deserves. Even Kendrick has had to come to Wayne’s defense when some white people were saying he couldn’t rap.

i just seen it happen in the T.I. breakfast club interview.
    f***ing annoying

Didn't Charlamagne try and say that Wayne was more about his style and delivery than lyrical skill. Pretty sure I saw a clip of someone saying that to T.I. recently.

I get some people could criticize the content, but on a purely lyrical how anyone who's listened to as much rap as someone as Charlamagne couldn't see the lyrical skill of someone like Wayne is crazy to me.

That just seriously minimizes his rapping prowess in his prime. His flow was the smoothest flow in the game, the punch lines were creative and off the wall at times, and they came every single line. And that’s just mixtape Wayne. On the Carter’s 2 and 3 his ability to create songs relating to a theme and that theme only was just untouchable. Tha Carter 2 is a masterpiece when it comes to just strictly song writing. Maybe he’s just not for you because he’s not telling tales of life in the street, akin to a lot of OG’s of the late 90’s and early 2000’s. To me it just sounds like you haven’t adjusted to what rap has become, and the doors that have opened for the genre BECAUSE of artists like Wayne.

Carter 2 was great no doubt
in fact, im a wayne fan. but its the stans that try to do what they do that pisses me off. calling people who dont think he's top 3 "casuals" like BRO im the furthest thing from a casual. i just highly. HIGHLY disagree that he is top 10.
like, he was early 90s snoop dogg in terms of hype, but you dont see us forcing snoop into the top 3 convo. they both had similar hype.

a kendrick cosign does not mean s*** to real hip hop heads.
when you say "even kendrick f***s with wayne", i woulda been impressed if he had a q-tip cosign or something.

and id really hate to burst your bubble, but hell nah!!
wayne was considered a cool t.i. like above average southern rapper back in the days, then carter 3 happend and all the casuals ran with the whole BEST RAPPER ALIVE shtick seriously. like, uh, where were yall at the past 10 years when real best rapper alive s*** was going down?

Everyone knows people didn't rate Wayne like they do now 'back in the days'.

But since then he surpassed everyone's expectations and redefined what it meant to be a great rapper for a new generation.

Putting Wayne down because people thought he was average at one point isn't a good point. It's like putting Ye down cos people didn't think he'd be a successful solo artist in 2001.

Also part of why hip hop fans are so invested in Wayne is cos they watched him grow from a kid with a few good ideas that nobody thought that much of to one of the most influential MCs OAT.

The point of the post was to emphasize that white people and casuals are so clueless about Wayne that they disrespected him in front of a man that dedicated an entire mixtape to Wayne. Not to prove Kendrick co-signing Wayne means anything.

Wayne doesn’t need a co-sign from Kendrick. His status is solidified.

he dropped some hot tapes, got super famous, thats great stuff.
im just not gonna include him so high in the convo....especially when theres been so much work done before him that his fans dont even care about or wanna get invested in.

like i said, im a wayne fan.

Lmao, I like Charlamagne but he just goes through phases with artists.

I remember he used to always say that if Wayne died he'd be seen as the greatest rapper of all time cos he was the most important to this era etc. Now he's saying he's not got lyrical skill It's like how he trashed Yeezus-era Kanye, then last year started saying he missed Yeezus-era Kanye cos he was so woke
