Nas never had the mainstream appeal will smith has..

He’s barely had any top 10 songs

Most of wills numbers come from white people who enjoyed “gettin jiggly with it”

The irony in saying this when Nas write that song

I dont know how things work in the us but I've never heard anyone say ''lets blast some will smith'' or ''have you heard that new will smith?'' ffs

like, not even one person and I dont hang around just rap fans only

plus, nas got more than a handful of songs that could've gotten radio plays in the 90s and with the ''revival'' of hip hop in the last decade he def gained more momentum as a household/respected name

Will Smith was one of the biggest crossover rappers ever and he had multiple hits that have lasted in success til today.

His rap career was so successful it turned him into one of the biggest movie stars on the planet.

It doesn't matter what people in your country or around you say y'all are in the minority.

His legacy is bigger then "How many people wanna play this song today"

    1. Eminem
    2. 2Pac
    3. Jay-Z
    4. Kanye West
    5. Drake

Because will was never taken serious as a rapper although he had mainstream appeal.

“Big Willie style” alone did nearly 10 million, because back then one or two smash hit singles would have people buying your album..

Nas has never had a smash single or anything that made him hot “globally”

    Nothing Was New

Because Will Smith had popularity and Nas had relevance (as rappers, obviously Will is still a relevant actor)

This also isn't true Will had a bigger hit on his last album then Nas has had in years with "Switch" it peaked at number 7 and went top 10 in multiple countries.

Nas last top 10 was years earlier Will simply quit that's all but he wass more relevant Nas even past his prime.

He was a bigger artist tho so the comparison is unfair either way.

"Because will was never taken serious as a rapper" this isn't true while nowadays it's cool to trash Will now as the "white guy rapper".

Will had enough clout and respect with his peers he lead a boycott of the Grammys by getting other rappers to protest with him.

Will was respected and he's the reason they broadcast Hip Hop categories at all.

I’m not trashing will, back in his “summertime” and “parents just don’t understand” days .. his audience was casual rap fans, he didn’t curse and that was right at the uprise of gangsta rap which dimmed his light in music. Will crossed over into acting and became a success then went back to music with a whole new audience and sound.

You think NWA, PAC and NAS fans were standing in line for “Willenium” nigga please

Honestly though how did No Limit in general get as huge as it did?

Again Will wasn't around Pac and Nas really by that time he was more actor that rapper then rapper. During his Parents Don't Understand days tho he fit in with Salt N Peppa,LL and others.

Hip Hop wasn't all hardcore and just because you were hardcore didn't mean you weren't respected.

Fact being he was respected enough that when he called the others followed he wasn't appealing to Pac,Nas and NWA fans but they weren't the only fans of rap that existed.

Will was big with adults who loved the older era of rap aswell and didn't like the hardcore. Will wasn't just for casuals he was a really good throwback for people who grew up with a different type of rap.
