But no one wants to ever bring up 80s rappers? These guys are pure energy, it’s all they have. What they lack in lyricism and flow they make up for in literally just shouting ABAB rhymes over f***ed up roland noises. You want energy? Listen to the message. This man is fed the f*** up and is hornacing pure raw unadulterated energy. Beastie boys ARE energy. Afrikaa bambaataa made a career out of space energies. I know some of you guys say “oh dadadadada 80s are wack” but NO. THEYRE NOT

80s aren’t wack but Afrika Bambaata didn’t make himself a career, he had one hit, another kind of important song, and didn’t put an album out until 6 years later

I agree and disagree. I feel like a lot of people view the 90s as the “golden era” and don’t see a reason to bother checking out anything older than that. I know a lot of people who have been listening to rap their whole lives but find the entire sound too dated to listen to which honestly, fair. But you can’t deny these guys are doing wild things

Did you just compare our forefathers to 69? That’s foul

Also how is a song like sucker mcs not saying hard s***? The whole era was about saying hard s*** In leather suits with gold chains the same size as the rope tied to lobster traps. No disrespect but I think you may be a teensy bit out of line

I didn't even say 80s niggas weren't hard I was just specifying that energy is not all that niggas care about, since the title says "everyone always wants to talk about energy" and you said verbatim "80s niggas are pure energy. It's all they have."

deadass just tried to start an argument with me over nothing

I wasn’t trying to start an argument, and I didn’t mean that’s all people care about. I just don’t understand what you were giving an example of. The thread was to appreciate 80s rap energy and if the 69 comment wasn’t a comparison, I just don’t see how it pertained to the thread. No hatred brother, I think we’re just both on different pages I get what you’re saying now.

Would also like to point out I did NOT say that verbatim because I would never say the n word. God bless
