Then keep doing those things, especially golf, since it keeps you away from your phone and in company with friends. Keep on finding new things to do until you pick up enough hobbies so you won't find the time to do the things you mentioned in OP 😊 I for example haven't played with my switch in months cause I'm always busy lol.
Also, playing video games and watching TV shows isn't always meaningless, they can be a form of entertainment too and sometimes are needed to detach from our daily routine

Yeah, I see your point. It's just been like, when I get back from work I almost immediately go and look for shows to watch etc. Like an escape. I guess it's all down to me what is meaningless and not, but I feel like golf would eventually become meaningless too.

This might get too philosophical even for me lol

    Watching a tv-show
    Playing videogames
    Scrolling twitter/instagram/social media

Isn't all of these things just ways to make you escape reality?
For me it feels good in the moment, but when I stop and think about how I spend most of my days I get really down and think wtf am I doing with my life.

The f***ing thing is I don't know what I want to do in life, but how will I ever find out? By coming home from my 9-5 customer service job, watch netflix, play some FIFA? Then on the weekends I get drunk with my friends and then it's monday again and it all just keep looping? It somehow doesn't make sense to me

    Please keep this thread serious

There's more to life than scrolling through twitter and partying on weekends. Read, educate yourself, travel whenever you get a chance.

True. I haven't even thought about traveling. That would probably help me. Get away from everything for a while. Thanks man

Reading, “educating” and traveling aren’t really any better then scrolling through Twitter. They just sound cooler on your bumble or gram

Honestly best thing you can do is find your craft and go hard in it... making music, coding, being a salesman, building furniture— it doesn’t matter. As long as it’s something that is or will be in demand and you enjoy it.

Running, reading, going to the gym, traveling are just pass times. The only thing that’ll fill you with joy long term is your craft.

It can be hard to find your craft so try some things. The hard part is deciding when to give up and try something else... don’t give up too early but don’t hang on to a bad path too long either.

The other thing is have a craft around products if you can, as oppose to services. Services don’t scale. Products are more scalable.

Example: touring musician only makes money when he tours

Kanye sells shoes. Kanye makes more than a touring musician and makes money while he sleeps... sometimes referred to as mailbox money (RIP nip)

Yeah man, I see that. It's so hard though when you have no idea what you want to do.
I thought I knew, so I took a leap of faith last year and moved out first time, moved 9-10hrs away from all my family and friends. To follow my dreams. But the school I went to wasn't anything like I imagined, and I went into an depression instead, kind of a life-crisis I guess bc I really thought I was on the right path, but I couldn't handle it.

You only need school if you want to be a doctor or a lawyer or something with a hard school requirement.

Otherwise just get out there and go HAM. It’s not an over night thing. It’s the 10,000 hour rule unfortunately. You may be 30 before you find it but the obstacle is the way.

Sorry, think my english let me down. It wasn't only the school but also the whole subject wasn't what I thought it'd be like. The whole business. I love clothes and digital designing, but I don't really know what to do with that. Although this thread has already helped me realise some things I needed to get reminded of, I'm scared of just going back to regular 9-5 and boring lifestyle.

Thats completely normal, sometimes I just want to watch a show after a long day, it's a form of quick entertainment after all.
But yeah, i think this is more about your philosophy than actually not finding anything to do, i guess you're just being pessimistic. Just want you to know that I think what makes life useless or not is how you live it, if you do what you like doing then it can't be wasted, and that goes for playing video games, watching TV shows, playing sports and whatever other activity. If you think about it, at the end of the day we're all gonna die so what happens on earth stays on earth, might as well do what you want to do (of course without doing some sus illegal s*** )

Thank you bro for sharing ur thoughts. It’s interesting to me. It really is up to each of our own to determine what’s worth and not in that exact spot you’re in. I think it’s just getting “comfortable”, and settling for less than your absolute best, makes me worried. If I can’t reach my potential, and I have to live with settling for less, whatever that is to me. Thanks though bro 🙏

You on your Kanye s*** right now lol, I like the hunger
What do you mean by comfortable? You talking about being economically comfortable or something else?

  • Nov 17, 2019

Like everythings a thing of your perspective and approach to live.

You could be walking thru Life choking on your red pills and talking about how everythings a waste of time.

Or you can stop take life for granted and take one moment and appreciate it.

At the end of the day its all abou your actions and decisions, moving on with happiness in your heart and enjoying things you do.

Looking at life from a rational perspective, theres no point to it. So you gotta give it some sort of path.

Enjoy with people you enjoy. If things seem like a waste of time to YOU, why the f*** you do it then.

    Humans are conflicting beings, jeez.

    Haha :)

By comfortable I mean someday kind of giving up, thinking “ah well, I guess this is it ” and you just get comfortable where you are in life. As in I could get comfortable right now, I have a steady job with OK income, I have my friends & fam close to me. Why would I need a better job? Ya I wanna travel the world but I’m comfortable back home, here. (As an example, doesn’t fit on me)

The hunger of not becoming the best you just isn’t there anymore, because you get comfortable. U get me?

I mean, eventually you're going to lose that hunger to strive for more when you'll get older, so that is unavoidable. But you're still young so even if you're comfortable, if you don't feel rewarded by the lifestyle you're having rn, you should definitely change it. When people get older they always reminisce about when they were younger and about what they could've done, if you don't want to be that kind of person you gotta get out of your comfort zone and try something new every day. The simplest way to start is by going on a trip somewhere with your friends. Find a random place, even close to where you live, that will get you out of your comfort zone. I know it's easier said than done, but if you wanna make a change you gotta start somewhere
