The common trope of American media for the past 20ish years is that the husband is a dumb idiot and the wife is smart and rational (family guy, The Simpsons, American Dad). In those shows, they even extend that trope to the sons and daughters

Its not just American media that does this, and this trope has existed forever because it’s a reflection of how we perceive (Head-Strong)Masculinity and (Soft and mostly Rational)Feminity and its relationship throughout time. Also, in a traditional marriage in which the men fit traditional gender roles and the women fit traditional gender roles as well (putting up with men, cooking dinner, shopping, henpecking); it actually benefits male patriarchy by affirming gender roles and playing into anti-feminist tropes.

Give me an example of any show where it is the opposite dynamic. I’ll wait…

A trope that has existed since Dom Coms became popular in The '50s, married couples in fiction tend to enforce gender stereotypes. The husband is portrayed as lazy, immature, irresponsible, and if he's a father, a Bumbling Dad. The wife is portrayed as the voice of reason who's more mature, sensible, and responsible; her main role is to keep her husband in line, as if being a housewife isn't enough trouble. Her role to her husband may be more motherly than spousal, which may cause him to be submissive to his domineering wife.
The husband may not particularly be outright stupid, but rather he has poor impulse control and may be an Overprotective Dad, while the wife may be Only Sane by Comparison and have very low moral standards when her husband isn't around, also veering into My Beloved Smother territory if she's a mother. The wife will often try to beg her husband not to get into any kind of danger.

1. Dumb blonde bimbo is/was a very prevalent trope in movies and television, and that type of character isn’t solely limited to being portrayed as a man. Also, don’t know what TV you’ve been watching lately but a lot of recent media is showing men and women to be on very equal playing fields when it comes to power and intelligence (Ozark, Succession, Better Call Saul, Severance to name a few).

2. There are definitely movies where the antagonist is a gay character. One I can name off the top of my head is Birds of Prey from 2020. It’s definitely less common but it’s not obsolete.

3. I agree there is a push in recent media to show men in more feminine, non-traditional roles, but it’s not because there’s some secret agenda to make men weak so we don’t revolt. It’s because men like this exist in real life all across the globe and there’s an effort being made to represent them and show that masculinity doesn’t define a man. And the same is true for women: there are numerous female characters that aren’t traditionally feminine being represented, it’s not because there’s an agenda to push, it’s because people like this exist in our world so they should be seen in our media.
