It’s the same thing. Contracts have stipulations and you have to obey them/follow them. Even if that means saying things you don’t believe in or agree with whether it’s for publicity or whatever (which it probably is usually)
And also as for telling me what I should or shouldn’t do, unless you’re 100% perfect in every way why would I listen to you?

We know kanye had bad contracts that he couldn’t leave/get away from so it’s not far fetched to assume those contracts had stipulations.
So you think it's possible that a music label, which at the end of the day is only concerned with making money through the presentation of their artist, is going to put in someone's contract that they have to be a contrarian to societal and industry norms?
That's incredibly backwards thinking. If anything of that sort was in his contract it would be that he COULDN'T do or say those things.

You clearly don’t know enough about the history of the situation to draw these kind of conclusions so I’d suggest focusing on areas outside of music that you know better
He was already saying crazy stuff that wouldn’t have been allowed in that type of contract, his comments about being against homophobia is actually before he was even signed to a label so your theory is out the window
He wasn’t being forced to be more liberal back then he was just rebelling against where the culture was then like he’s rebelling against it now. This is 20 years ago stop trying to apply your spin on 20 years ago without doing the homework

Anyways, yes kanye was being forced to do things in has contract. If you think that’s not true then I guess you just don’t know how to make assumptions and deduce information. Every artist under a contract is forced to buy certain things they don’t need/want, see certain people they don’t care about, surround themselves with people, whatever the contract says they MUST do. It means they have to buy so much crap that they can’t afford that companies can keep artists essentially forever because they’re in debt.
