The only thing to really do if you aren't going to just abolish it.
how would abolishing it work tho?
Expand it to 11 justices and reform it so justices rotate out from 18 year terms (so 1 justice leaves every 2 years)

what would that do? wouldnt that defeat the purpose if it

18 year appointments and rotating them keeps the number of justices appointed per Presidential term consistent unless someone dies in the seat, and Dems should add more to make up for the stolen 2016 or 2020 seat

How are either of these seats stolen? 2016 I can almost see since they refused to even accept the nomination, but the senate doesn’t have to back a candidate and had he been nominated they wouldn’t have confirmed his appointment.
In 2020, a sitting president nominated a justice and the senate confirmed her appointment.
I agree that republicans are hypocritical as hell since their excuse was “it’s too close to the election”, which obviously was not really their issue. But in both cases the republicans didn’t do anything unheard of unexpected. A Republican senate didn’t push through a Democrat president’s nominee, and are now pushing through a republican’s nominee.
Expanding the courts would just pave the way for the ruling party to expand every 4 years. Guarantee Republicans would expand the courts every other election cycle.

Good. Maybe that would help expose how ridiculous our institutions are

Or we’d end up with an even more dumb system

im just saying if i were elected president, i would simply find every judge that agrees with me on my legislative agenda and add them to the court, regardless if it was 5 or 100. and then i'd threaten to support primary challenges to everyone who tried to railroad my picks.
The founding fathers specifically did not assign a number to the supreme court, so there is nothing stopping them from doing it. There isn't even anything in there that says they have to be LAWYERS but because that's how we farm our elites, in universities like Notre Dame, that's what the supreme court has become.
That being said I don't believe the Democrats would expand the courts because they don't want people to think they can actually affect change in our institutions
Feels kinda wrong but I obviously get the sentiment
And I also see it backfiring just how a lot of Harry Reid’s changes to Supreme Court voting did last time Dems had majority in senate. He laid the groundwork for no filibusters during judicial appointments and simple majority instead of 60 vote approval. Both would have been crucial in the last two controversial Justice votes
GOP plays foul and bends rules but it feels like when Dems lose they straight up want to change all the rules in almost extreme fashion. S*** like lifetime appointments for judges are only a topic now because Trump made appointments (hundreds) and Dems couldn’t stop him. It’s not even like they’re talking about 11 justices either (which would still be a liberal minority), the fact 13 is being thrown out there as something serious is lame
Gonna set an ugly precedent for when GOP inevitably gains back power years down the road (assuming they lose it this year)

They will be forced to expand sooner than later, trust me

I can see them adding 2 seats and then they'd still be down 6-5

because thats exactly what they are going to do if they expand

Way better that 6-3 lol. 6-5 is actually fair
