    that’s a good rank

yeaahhh i can see that altho im starting to gain more appreciation because of like, for the eighties it was such outcast music, that’s the connection that follows through today: avantgardisme

i read the other day how anne’s song for example drew some comparisons to bowie (ill make a post about their love for david bowie sometime soon) and that made me go back revalue the song bc, wow if bowie dropped that in the eighties we would’ve loved it! but because it’s FNM we perceive it differently.... isn’t that interesting? context somehow really changes some pov

i love arabian disco that one is absolutely a keeper and we care a lot, the “well it’s a dirty job but someone’s gotta do it” stays in my head for DAYS fr

but yeh id still rank it bottom, rip chuck tho bless him im glad they got together one last time to play the first album in full

i can definitely see how the band loves bowie. they're musical chameleons just like him, and it's just so amazing how they're able to adapt to different sounds without making it sound like a gimmick yfm.

thats so cool im glad i did it, at first when i tagged u and posted that i had a second thought and was like wait why the f*** are you asking the og of the motherfucking official METAL THREAD if he knows them stoopid

last album as mike put it best:

It’s a post-punk record with tons of atmosphere. It’s like ELO or The Beach Boys going through a gothic laundry cycle.

    thats on @Elric @Lawdie yessiir

LOVE LOVE this song (which fits his description the best imo)

they have a funny n cute history with black sabbath there’s more to the war pigs cover ill make a post covering that too

    Glad you finally came home

the hardest thing to pull off is like putting out an album like king for a day where you throw in a punk song but then have the audacity to switch onto some bossanova beat or the trip hop funk groove without making your album come off ridiculous and incoherent, the production is so good and the organic performance really keeps it together and natural flow, now that’s talent and crazy ass work, when this clicked to me that’s when i was like okay i get what this band is all about now

    (Faith No More, 1992)

I've seen the future of rock 'n' roll, and it's Faith No More Axl Rose (Guns N’ Roses)

Rivers Cuomo (weezer) went on to reveal that before forming weezer he was influenced by Faith No More and the growing alternative ideas for metal Kerrang! (2020)

Living on the margins for so long, living in the underground scene it's like: 'Oh this will never catch on'. But it did, and it was starting to change where you had bands like Faith No More and Jane's Addiction. They were these rock bands but they were more like alternative or edgy. Then they paved the way for Nirvana. Krist Novoselic (Nirvana) (2009)

Robert Plant (Led Zeppelin) hasn’t lost his open mind and eager ear. (...) Among his recent faves are Hüsker Dü, the rising Irish star Sinead O’Connor and the San Francisco funk-metal band Faith No More. Rolling Stone (1988)

The press has trouble categorizing the band Faith No More; so it must be something original, and that’s what we need in the world of same sounding s*** new bands James Hetfield (Metallica) (1989)

”Angel Dust" was the record that made me think, "This is one of the sickest bands." Chino Moreno (Deftones) (2010)

Faith No More was probably the first hard rock I’d ever heard. They’re what made me go back and listen to Slayer and Metallica. “Angel Dust” wasn’t as commercially viable as “The Real Thing”, but I think it’s probably their best album. It’s got stuff on it that isn’t typical of anything else they’ve ever done. I’m a huge fan of Faith No More singer Mike Patton. Serj Tankian (System Of A Down) (2003)

I’ve always loved melodic, heavy music. For my generation, it was Faith No More; (Mike) Patton wrote killer melodies over really heavy music Scott Shriner (weezer) (2008)

    INTRODUCE YOURSELF (1987)

    ANGEL DUST (1992)

KING FOR A DAY... FOOL FOR A LIFETIME (1995)

not first "rock star" probably but i think the first metal musician

a h****legend for sure. very very mportant contribution to the band too

really? who else can u think of

some ppl argue over pre - post jim fnm (the og guitarist who wasn’t a fan of mikes experimentations and left after angel dust altho his contribution to angel dust itself isn’t certain, the band during promo and the making of alone of that album was directly dissing him in interviews lol it was super nasty) but yeah reality is that fnm at its core has always been about that bass and that synth so yeh roddy is the heart of the band
