im so happy yet sad that rivers released the demo for bottle of wine: it was my holy grail, im getting to hear it in full but that also means he’s abandoning the song from ever doing anything with it in the future

there’s hope, the pacific sunset song is stellar and was consider for ok human, it’s abandoned but it’s telling how much that album the bar is set on, weezer by now have more than enough classics to prove anyone wrong, more than any other 90s bands

but van weezer and ok human will even prove it further

(rivers stated the next album after those two will be acoustic? he also said he’s working on 3 weezer album rn at the same time that will be the ones coming after ok human and the first one of them will feature the collaboration song with julian casablancas, been waiting for so long for that one!)

Oh wow, I guess I’m looking forward to new releases then. I was thinking I’d just stick with all these demos and what not since I’d kind of given up hope they’d put out another record like The White Album at this point in their career. Totally down for that Julian Casablanca’s collab.

I really love Frank Capra. Guy made many great films. It's a wonderful life, Meet John Doe, Mr. Smith goes to Washington, It Happened at night, Lady for a day and more

tbh white album should be enough to showcase that he can pull this off like it’s nothing, rivers wasn’t even a fan of doing that album and yet now it’s a fan favorite, flawless from front to back and grammy nominated and it came pretty late in their catalogue

if you heard the van weezer singles it’s shaping up to be just as good actually, last one was the best imo:

of the demos - the 1992 song ive thrown it all away cowritten with jason cropper original weezer guitarist will be on the album, and also sheila can do it! which is very shocking lol, long time fav song of mine

ok human is entirely symphonic orchestrated by rivers, the tiny clips we heard is on to shape for a masterpiece

Demo version of that is much better too. Make Believe could have actually been a great album, what a shame.

of all things that pisses me off for that album is the artwork the dragon art you see in the back was meant to be the cover and in its original colors but the genuis of the label geffen said it needs to be a comeback and put something ppl are familiar with so bam band photo on it so it looks like self titled but it’s not (idk if they made it black and white to push the theme or if they decided that to make the band photo and dragon blend together better)

one song i love from that era is everybody wants a chance to feel all alone, the acoustic performance, what rivers tried with the demo while i see what he was tempting really didn’t work out tho so i can see why he abandonned it but imo he should’ve revisited for the ok human orchestra themed it would’ve been amazing, or the acoustic album!
