While their films might appear somewhat formalistic most of them have interesting twists to them and the directors are competent in their admittingly often rather conservative style. However, I get why they're hated here but they've released half a dozen good films up til now. The Witch, The Babadook, Under The Silver Lake (imo this decade's Southland Tales albeit not necessarily as good), Get Out, Us and maybe It Follows.
tbf most of their horror movies often have large drama portions.
