i don’t hate let it bleed but it’s just not on the same level as exile and sticky fingers, hell i think aftermath and out of our heads is better

let it bleed has more concision than sticky fingers i think. Gimme Shelter literally their best song and one of the best songs ever. Live With Me, Midnight Rambler, Monkey Man top tier stones bangers and everything else is great too. Country Honk is amazing lol and You Got the Silver is underrated and has great climax

consistency + i think it builds as an album along its sequencing really well too. only Exile contends for their best put together album tbh. Sticky Fingers obviously amazing and its best 5 songs probably beat the best 5 on Let It Bleed but i think You Gotta Move, I Got the Blues, and even Sister Morphine (sorry, just never clicked much with me) don't add as much to the proceedings as the "lesser" songs on Let It Bleed.

obv stones is a bit more of a "songs" than albums band anyway and it lowkey does them a disservice to only talk about them in terms of albums (even though obviously the main 4 are really special).

Gimme Shelter as a song is better than any of their albums as an album. if that makes sense

and id probably say the same thing for their other top few songs

I agree with all of this except for I don't really ever need to hear gimme shelter or monkey man ever again because I've listened to them so much you can't always get what you want and midnight rambler I always seemed pretty overrated to me too

The other ones you mentioned are nice but I prefer the swinging 60s London psych style of Aftermath

was never that overplayed for me so heard a few of their other hits more growing up on radio and s*** but my parents were never fans or anything so none of them i heard ad nauseum

to rephrase, in the pantheon of great songs Gimme Shelter has a higher place than any of their albums have within the pantheon of great albums

gimme shelter never gets old
