In the pantheon Satisfaction is ranked higher

you mean the public's pantheon (which is more "hits" based anyway)? maybe but its not even that far off and surely one can't deny the maturity and depth of Gimme Shelter putting it ahead of Satisfaction in some ways. not exactly a slouch in terms of cultural relevance either

from acclaimedmusic aggregate of critics rankings, Satisfaction is #10 all time while Gimme Shelter is #34. both are obviously in the top canon. i think most diehard stones fans would take gimme shelter over it though

also proves my point that Satisfaction's place in the pantheon far outweighs Out of Our Heads, which is still great and yes i like the deeper cuts too

I like their deep cuts alot and do not subscribe to the take that they're only a hits band

im not meaning to call them a hits band only, obviously goats all around

but which is a stronger case for them being the goat rock band. their top 10 albums, or their top 25ish songs? its gotta be the songs

for me they have some 8-8.5/10 albums which contain absolute top tier songs

Why not both? Add their touring history and you have the full picture

yes im not denying both are great but just saying one is clearly a stronger case

theyre not a "hits band" but they just happen to have the greatest catalogue of hits in rock history

    yeah they probably do tbh

obviously beedles is probably a good choice but feel like they have a few less. and ofc so many of the goat rock bands either have a shorter period of goatness compared to Stones, or are much less singles focused ie Floyd or something. kinda makes sense when you consider that 60s rock was more singles oriented than 70s rock so the goat singles catalogue is probably one who was at least partially in the 60s
