Shame this song wasn’t a bigger hit
wym, it was a massive hit. you mean in the US?
i like it but the backing vocal in the chorus annoys the s*** out of me for some reason and makes me like it less. Sorry probably my fav from that album
Also TLC
Their tomboy era >

One of the goat covers
Prince was f***ing one of them which is why he allowed this

I mean not a hit in the same way SexyBack or Gimme More was. Idk it’s not “lasting” imo

I know what you mean. The song was definitely known but it wasnt an anthem. Madonna was just past her prime and a lot of the newer gen didnt get it I guess
And now you have plebs on KTT acting like shes some has been nobody

interesting cuz i always thought it was a tad overrated along with the rest of Confessions by some of her (younger) fans who think its one of her better songs. seems to be much bigger worldwide than in the USA though so idk maybe it was more lasting outside of the US. Gimme More definitely better than it imho
she rhymed "new york" with "dork" on that album and pop stan zoomers have the audacity to claim its her best album

I wish she did with dance music What Beyoncé did with R&B
Just do what you want and not try to compete with the new folks
I had Madonna as a guilty pleasure when I was a young teen but then had a rager house party when I was like 16 and when Like A Prayer came on every single person turned it into a giant singalong and I couldn't believe it
Changed my whole perception on not just Madonna but music cause I didn't think the such a random assortments of skaters, jocks, rich kids, poor kids etc could ever unite around one song like that
I was in awe
It was like the opposite of when I got dragged to a Canucks game and couldn't stop observing the crowd wondering why they cared so much
Like a Prayer is a mosterpiece
Shame this song wasn’t a bigger hit
What?! This song genuinely could not have been more of a big hit, it was f***ing huge

"Hung Up was a worldwide commercial success, peaking at number one in charts of 41 countries and earning a place in the Guinness Book of World Records, as the song topping the charts in most countries."

It makes me feel old seeing teenagers hype up 2002-2007 pop as cool, “retro” music
finally doing waits 3-disc, 3 hour album.
the "bawlers" disc is the best

When Avril Lavigne becomes a retro hipster icon
Was f***in dramatically better than the punk pop emo s*** that was also getting played a ton
i love 90/00s pop but man stfu with this boomer ass opinion, you don’t even know what emo music is if you’re arbitrarily lumping it with pop punk
When Avril Lavigne becomes a retro hipster icon
you heard that new Avril??? lowkey a good song
I have never listened to a full Madonna album but she got some bangers. Like A Prayer is so good
Like a Prayer is a goddamn masterpiece bruh
same with s*** like Lucky Star and Borderline. she’s actually got a ton of undeniably classic tracks
pop punk f***ing sucks, sorry
you don’t like it, it doesn’t suck tho
