Patti's Smith's first single was Hey Joe too
don't think I've ever heard it

this a gem
It’s about the same level of quality. He just breathes new life into the material. The direction is flawless and every striking image feels like it’s straight out of a dream. There’s an overhead shot just of a man standing in a puddle with the city lights at night reflecting off of it and it looks almost like he ascending into heaven. The original perfectly translates a stage performance to the cinematic form making the best use of editing and perspective. Spielberg goes out of his way to transcend just that, making so many frames feel like moving paintings as played out as that type of description is. There’s shadows clashing before bodies do, colors illuminating on faces, and romance framed behind flowing cloth. The whole thing is borderline surreal.
I’ll get back to you when I see this later, broski
