Some people still arent aware of that. Got invited to a News Years party with 200+ people

I wish one of you nerds could explain to me why you get off so hard to 77
Cause I'm a nerd

I been avoiding the news so just heard about omicron like 2 days ago but I know not do to that s***
That's still less filler than most rap albums that I can think of from ever
Not wrong but it's what separates a band/artist from a certain tier. I love OutKast but there are a 3-4 handfuls of artists I'd put above them because I think they are more consistent/reach higher peaks. Still the second greatest hip-hop act ever. This thread ultra stans them like crazy though so I was on the losing end of that battle lol.
So am I but that's like an elite tier
It's a mixture of chaotic, nerdy rock n roll energy, with a tinge of eccentric funk in the mix and I think it's brilliant and amazing.
When you're a brooding 13 year old and Nothing Else Matters hits
DOESN’T MATTER WHAT THEY KNOW-WOO-WHOA

If they really wanted to narrow it down to just a tight clutch of extremely potent songs they could have but that wasn't really the point of rap albums back then. Kanye the first one I can think of that really started doing it once he decided to get hyperfocused on this albums.

Feel like those first couple albums are strictly for students that do speed for cram sessions

That isn't really specific for the era lol. Majority of rap artists still overstuff their albums and it' even worse now with streaming. That is also a technicality to justify higher praise for an artist (which is fine, but I still take every sing into account for rating an album.)
And it's not like there weren't hip hop artists making more concise records back then either. Wu Tang, Tribe, Nas, even Kast (plus more I'm probably missing) released sub-60 minute classics in the decade.
I don't consider Kast's stuff bloated either. A couple lesser songs on Aquemini will hardly, if even at all, takeaway from the other 14 good to amazing songs lol. Sometimes rap albums appear bloated based on length, but when it's "Spottieottiedopalicious" and "Liberation" taking up 17 minutes
, that is not a bloated album. Stankonia appears overstuffed with 8 skits serving as separate songs too but there's only 3 or 4 songs on there I dont think are at least good too
Can we talk about how even the best OutKast has at least 2 lesser songs. Nobody wants to listen to Mamacita and honestly, Y'all Scared is a bit weaker too
You really wrote all that after just saying this
Like @RVI said, filler is a made-up term to describe an album/song you don't like, but I'll be damned if rap artists realllyyyy think that highly of themselves to think people want 20 or more songs, a large chunk of which are usually mid.

I see no contradiction to my statement. The argument somehow devolved to Kast vs. Talking Heads (
) and I was pointing out that even though I think OutKast are amazing, I don't think there's a weak song on something like 77. Just my opinion dude. Not once did I say anything by Kast was made as filler or too long on purpose because of the era

I see a bit of contradiction but it's all good I dosed a little lsd and am listenin to rekkids
really think it's weird that Nazz Is Blue was your Yardbirds standout when it's like the only blues song on an album full of cutting edge rock and roll
usually you like the edgy s***
Also Beck sang that one not Relf the leg'

Maybe it is edgy since it's the outlier
