Arujiterribly unfinished, a few nice ideas but mostly subpar, generic, dated. As it is easily his worst album and tbh I doubt the supposed updates can change much. I'd love to be convinced otherwise tho

rvithere are definitely different levels to it. someone who blends influences in a novel way, someone who doesnt invent much but still pays respect to the tradition and does it in a valuable way, or someone who might as well just be a lukewarm cover artist with no identity
For a long time, Voodoo just sounded like a Prince cover album to me so it was harder for me to get into it compared to other D’Angelo albums
