Yeah it didn’t. It felt like a movie made by adults who actually gave a s*** about the material enough to shout out the comic inspirations in the credits. You guys can keep eating up your interchangeable slop and acting like I’m the crazy one for enjoying when these movies actually have a person behind the camera with an identity.

"the planet of the apes guy" this was assembly line imo fam a dark edgy sheen didn't make it any deeper

Emo bats and his batmobile were badass and it was cool to see him doing actual detective work but half the dialogue had me so generic

Some of the best cinematography and music in any of these cape flicks and the dude has the balls to call it assembly line while he’s masturbating in excitement for the next season of Hawkeye.

It felt like about 10% as effective as the first two Nolans at world building and actual stakes and clearly couldn't have existed without them

It's funny because I didn't think anybody else would bother to do a big Nirvana needle drop after Captain Marvel's big lame one like two years ago but this whole movie had Something in the Way going in the background basically the whole time in one form of another

What was with the big ridiculous moment of making it look like that sacrificed himself on that electric cable

This doesn’t make any sense. It’s nothing like the Nolan movies. It’s closer to comics like Earth One or the animated series than anything Nolan was doing. Reeves actually stylized the city rather than making it just Chicago. The way Batman interacts with the police doing detective work and moving through the shadows has never been captured this way in live action. It’s not total fantasy and it’s not hyper reality. It’s right in this perfect middle ground that the comics have been nailing for decades now.

I agree with the second part and I liked how they didn't avoid the fact that it would be super awkward and all the cops would be like

Captain Marvel’s needle drop is just “memba da 90’s”. This is actually thematically relevant and used intelligently and appropriately as a motif of sorts.

Thanks fam. Talking about the narrative and all that has been done to death so there would be nothing new I could add on that level. Figured instead I’d try to get at what it has grown to mean to people over the years and why if you push through all the discourse it still remains a really well constructed piece of cinema. It’s important to the genre for a reason. Hope the new one grows on you. It’s just the closest thing to what I’ve wanted from a Batman movie since I was a kid.

I hope it does too.. and it might.. but mastermind unveiling their plans films rarely do cause you start shooting holes through them. need subtitles because I couldn't quite make out what Bats was saying during those peak emotional moments where he was talking about fear and stuff which were probably pretty pivotal.

yeah and 400 of it waiting in lobbies for a game to start listening to music it's my go-to for playing a game that requires no attention as a background for music listening. Havent played in a bit tho

real talk I was in a clan on that game for like 4 months and it was ranked number 3 or 4 overall then the self-centered clan leader self-destructed, kicking out members and targeting certain members in-game. Dude couldn't take criticism on how he treated others and it proved on the destruction of the clan. Obv the tensions were boiling before I got invited as I was a new member, but he tried to start a new clan immediately after with select members including myself. I wasn't having that especially after he backstabbed a bunch of the members who actually liked him by not inviting them

Shellshock drama Typing that out, it sounds dumb, but trust me, it's dumber than it sounds.

No because there wasn’t any. The director has confirmed the scene I’m assuming you’re talking about isn’t sequel bait but just a highlight that nothing has changed in the city for the better.

So that HBO Max series just happened to coincidental, huh?
