Also how tf have you never seen Terminator
You ever notice the Ulver poster on Meadows wall in s1
Maybe not scare but they can definitely unsettle
Yeah that’s def true. Cure was a really unsettling movie and even Dark Waters was p effective seeing how a real issue was translated to something so horrific

Yeah it's sick. Set designer was a fan I guess.
classic hollywood revisit bender lately
throw out some recs I may not have seen yet
The Wizard of Oz
roughly mid 1930s - mid 1950s
Surprised you don't say mid 60s considering how much you like late late period ford, hawks, hitch etc. Them and wilder kept it going for a bit longer than mid 50s I think.

Oh, I was just telling him the period I generally see described as Golden Age of Hollywood/Old Hollywood. I def prefer the ‘60s to the ‘30s.
"Kids See Ghosts (2018) was a collaboration with Kanye West on which both sound tired and unfocused."
Scaruffi's dementia really starting to kick in. Great f***ing review, old man. Stick to rock music

Didn't see this one at first...
""The sprawling Passion, Pain & Demon Slayin' (2016), released after a well-advertised mental breakdown and rehabilitation...""" just straight up disrespectful. "Well advertised" cant explain how badly this sits with me yikes

I don't watch or read any of his reviews and I probably never will.

His site is best for finding different stuff but he's always been terrible at reviewing hip hop... even a lot of his high rated stuff can be unlistenable but there's always some great stuff in the mix. His recent Kanye reviews follow the trend of sounding more in opposition to his politics than his music. Calls him uninspired even though he had previously praised him for being "supremely creative, trans- stylistic, postmodern". It's pretty sad, but he's getting old so I get it

Seems like one of those pseudo intellect guys, I couldn't image anyone taking his Hip Hop reviews seriously.
Reviews that mention Kanye's politics instead of focusing on the music are so lame.
How does this old man come up with these ratings?
He gave The Dreaming & The Queen is Dead a 7....

he reviewed tons of (t)rap artist as of recently. Young Thug, Lil Wayne, Chief Keef, Future, Playboi Carti, Travis Scott, Gucci Mane, Jeezy, Kid Cudi etc.. 7/10s for Chief Keef, Young Thug and Lil Wayn.

yeah. It's pretty annoying. Especially since his writing has generally improved over the course of the last year. He doesn't even mention Reborn.

The negative reviews that don't offer any reasoning have always come off to me as dismissive and lazy.

Doubt he listened to a single album from these artists more than once, or he got an intern to cover it for him

Why I can't take Pauline that srs

Replay value is one of the biggest indicators of a great album and his 1 listen style of reviews definitely don't help his credibility... even though his criteria is based on original ideas, I feel multiple listens should be had to really take in an album...
