A few years ago yeah. Started the same as Deadpeg is using it, cause 4chan music board users loved Lil B. Then it started being used as a one word approval of virtually anything across various boards.

But eventually /pol/ users started using it to as an approval response (either earnestly or as a s***post) for things that were in one sense or another objectionable — mass shootings, suicides, headlines about minority groups impacted negatively, black people being killed by cops (or killing each other), hate crimes, etc...

First it was just saying "based" in a post, then it became the more well-known "based and redpilled", which I'm sure you're familiar with.

Once Reddit and Twitter got a hold it a while later, people who never use /pol/ or 4chan started saying "based and (insert color/noun/person)-pilled" in response to various political things. But a lot of people still associate it with "4chan" (i.e., /pol/).

Yeah peep my reply above. Its used everywhere by everyone now.

But whenever a /pol/ or 8chan "movement" or event happens, i still see "based" being referenced in articles or on social media as an example of "coded nazi language" used by participants. Like the whole "clown world" nonsense, and I've seen people reference it when talking about QAnon communities.

It was just recently used in the Top's Grocery shooter's manifesto in the context of buying new ammo mags.

For sure but I’d also say that’s like claiming the okay sign is still a right wing thing. It is but it isn’t. Like if anything constantly reinforcing that it is makes it so. Everyone just ignoring them and continuing to use it in its original context is better than giving into the negative framing of like a very small portion of the population. That recent shooters manifesto also referred to Roblox as an influence on him so I’d take fringe schizophrenics words with a grain of salt.

Its always looked super interesting to me. When it came out and everyone was s***ting on the massive info dumps when you deliver packages and the general "walking simulator" gameplay, those things just grabbed my attention in a good way for some reason

And since ive watched a lot of gameplay of it over the years, it also just looks like something really relaxing to play once you get the hang of it

Impossible to decide between WL/WH and &Nico . VU&N arguably got more classics and for sure variety but the really grimy, almost proto-industrial muddiness of WL/WH is so addictive + Sister Ray might be the greatest song ever made.

After the terrible Views and Scorpion I realised there's not really much redeemable about Drake (not much to start) and that he peaked with TC/NWTS/IYRTITL, all hovering around a 6/10 (if you wanna call that a peak.) Couldnt get through 1/4 of CLB, and have heard mostly negative things about this new one so I will likely pass

Shocked you even listened once sounds like it's a weaker version of Views which was already the plainest potato chip in his bag so I'm in no rush

Yeah there’s not really much there. He had like a vague hint of potential and did nothing with it. It’s incredibly that he still has stans. Him originally being written off as this generations Ja Rule was ultimately correct.
