Ended up deep down an occult rabbit hole yesterday started with this hearing where L. Ron Hubbard's oldest son is giving testimony trying to convince the city of Clearwater not to let the Scientologists take over (they did) and its pretty fascinating to hear his perspective cause he was there at the very beginning and helped his dad form all his methods.

Freaky part;

"He explained that his father had been "deeply involved in the occult and black magic." Aleister Crowley's death in 1947 was a pivotal event that led Hubbard to "take over the mantle of the Beast". "Black magic is the inner core of Scientology", DeWolf said. "My father did not worship Satan. He thought he was Satan."

And then I started looking into all Crowley's beliefs and his inner circle and the rituals that he did to try and replicate the stuff this Royal alchemist philosopher and low-key occultist John Dee did during the Tudor era to commune with angles. Blew my mind that this is the dude that told the queen at the time, when england was a minor country 600 years ago, she should expand her kingdom and begin a "British Empire" in the New World man coined the term. maybe these guys were tapped into dark energies

I already know enough about all that and the concentration camps and the soldiers perspectives more trying to find one that gives you a bigger picture of all the critical campaigns because I've never been able to wrap my head around it all

yeah i still dont totally disrespect having a negative opinion of him but its obvious to tell people who have actually listened to him +know the context from those who just repeat things others said

i dont blame anybody for being suspicious but it takes about 5 minutes on google to find out, even if you dont want to acclimate yourself in the music of the time to better understand how he happened
