still super influenced by the states doing Ray, Hoagy, Lieber & Stoller tunesI think Korea's always been pretty open about all the western influence
Japan on the other hand lives in their own cultural bubble and seem to wanna keep it that way

I think Korea was super down with the states after they kicked the Japanese out of there in ww2 and then the commies after the Korean war
and for some reason baseball has been a thing in Japan for like a hundred years

I respect that about Japan minus the racism that comes with that. It’s just interesting that they’ve been able to preserve their unique culture and are oppositional to a lot of western influence. So much media is homogenous that’s it’s nice when you see something from Japan that it still feels so distinct.

there's still some fetishization of the West in Japan. Look at a lot of their clothing brands and the models they use. A lot of the times all white people.
Masami Teraoka did a bunch of paintings about the infiltration of the West in Japanese culture back in the 80s. Holding a big mac in the upper left corner.

I'm just saying, for the most part, they seem to hold on to their cultural identity tightly. Makes sense if you look at their history.
