there's still some fetishization of the West in Japan. Look at a lot of their clothing brands and the models they use. A lot of the times all white people.

Masami Teraoka did a bunch of paintings about the infiltration of the West in Japanese culture back in the 80s. Holding a big mac in the upper left corner.

Couple Jewish kids from NY wrote everything from Hound Dog for Big Mama Thornton to a bunch of the most iconic Elvis, Drifters and Ben E King songs. Also produced a ton of stuff including There Goes My Baby for the Drifters which is probably one of the most influential recordings on 60s pop music the way it combined a hard ass R&B beat with opulent strings.. Motown, Spector, Brian Wilson, especially. They taught teenage Spector how to produce actually.

Second half of the record kinda loses steam until Donnie Darko imo, but the first 5 songs are perfect

That Blossom Toes album was solid enough but there was a handful of tracks that were just really annoying. A lot of songs started and had a ton of potential but went nowhere or inserted some obnoxious switch up that drained the momentum. Some really good stuff on there too though.

Don't know why I decided to revisit The Sacrifice today but man sheesh
