The Rehearsal is the best show I’ve seen in a very long time @RASIE
What show is this?
Its the fact hat he tried though
still feels like you guys might be somewhere between a Beer Hall Putsch and a Reichstag Fire. Trump has way too much praise for dictators for this statement to be alarmist.
This what I said @Aruji
Well that’s a better comparison but still silly.
Calls me a "historically illiterate idiot" then heavily misquote me to make me sound dumber. I see this propeganda.

true, his fascist apologia is terrifying. then again, I'm more afraid of his successors tbh. I think that guy's time might be over but I could be wrong. However, there are charismatic fascists waiting in line.

dudes itt and that entire article Fidelio send me want to keep ignoring this one giant fact clobbering them in the face. Even when a politician is pretending not to be evil they can't be trusted but if he constantly publicly praises dictators and you choose to bury your head in the sand then rip.
And won't his successors rising the wave he started anyway?

Holy shnikes that's a high spot for Volunteers

I don't think Trump is a fascist himself tbh. More of a business man who realized what his followers want to hear and dogwhistles the hell out of his speeches to get far more followers.

Perhaps my most listened album of the past two months. I don't know. Finally got hold of a somewhat decent copy of that album and I realized how richt the arrangements and songwriting really are. Wooden Ships, Hey Fredrick, We Should Be Together, Eskimo Day and Volunteers are absolute Top Tier Airplane songs (tbh White Rabbit and Somebody To Love still my Top 2 tho. Perhaps I should do an Airplane ranking at some point).

New century new kind of capitalist dictator
whoever these successors are that you're scared of are definitely going to be running off the same "big lie" that Trump has been pushing to divide the country

sure, I'm not downplaying him. He's doing terrible things with this. He enables so many terrible positions and people.

Dang while you were gone rvi and I were having a big conversation about how neutered that bands albums were, mastering-wise
the craft and energy is there but they just don't sound as powerful as a lot of the other albums from that

But he's "funny" so gets a pass
Fidel did admit that hes as bad as the other presidents as far as ramping up the drone strikes so I wonder what he'll think about all the deaths that will result from Trump's winding back all emissions control legislation he possibly could
going to end up being a way higher kill count than the drones ever could have been

I guess it's partially due to the "big band" style they were approaching where every instrument and voice should matter. Playing them a bit louder elevates the experience quite a bit tbh.

This what I said @Aruji
Sorry I didn’t say “somewhere between an absurd comparison and a slightly less absurd comparison”.

You’re so f***ing annoying sometimes like a smarmy teenager. I didn’t give him a pass. I said he should be in prison. I’m allowed to find bad people funny without endorsing their political views or actions.

Started around here
None of us are genius geopolitical minds obv but I just watched The World At War and the similarities to the way these dictators brainwashed their followers is way too similar to the Trump personality cult and freaked me out a little.

Yes I just acknowledged the fact that you said he was indeed bad
smarmy
I know how I come across to you as a the person who lives chronically on Twitter getting into debates like this all day but I'm not one of those people. I just watched a documentary and forming some thoughts. I don't always realize or care when I'm wading into an extremely worn out subject for you.

I don’t debate s*** like this all day on twitter. I talk about movies and music mostly on there. I even tried shifting the conversation on here back to those things but you just kept bringing it up.

No. The nice things he says about dictators is the same s*** he says about anyone who’s nice to him, it’s just his typical lame ego s***. Sorry I’m not hysterical about Kim or Putin who are over inflated threats anyway.
