Recently came off about a month of holocaust research with my girl for her college work, I think Elric did something similar
Bright way to kick off the summer
we're Holocausted out
Had to do something slightly educational with this month I've been laying on the couch healing up from surgery
thats fair, you've done the work. i rate today above pet sounds
when i grow up to be a man
in the back of my mind
please let me wonder
:
You're So Good To Me a guilty pleasure of mine even though the lyrics are kinda meh. Sounds like Proto-Vampire Weekend to me
No he didn’t. Omg. Rewatch the speech. He’s saying typical bullshit hype crap like “we’re fighting for our freedom, you show them how passionate you are.” Idiots misinterpreting that doesn’t mean he wanted Pence hung. It’s insane. He’s a cynical careerist, he has no real ideology. Being President is just another business and celebrity move for him.
it did take him a whole 3 hours to tell them to stop though
I remember the 2 solid hours as the capital riot was happening where every respectable leftist was cheering on what happened until they were informed they shouldn’t be cheering because the bad people were undermining the corrupt state and not the good ones. Like am I supposed to care if a piece of s*** like Mike Pence is killed or Nancy Pelosi’s paper work is stolen. The former never was going to happen and the latter was the extent of the antics. It was an over inflated event. The media trying to turn it into the new 9/11 should be ashamed of themselves.
true, but tbh I don't want fascists to make a revolution. Even if they're acting brainless

that's a great f***ing song. girl don't tell me -> you're so good to me on summer days is nothing but bangers
The neoliberal hegemony that naturally produced someone like Trump is significantly more dangerous than the man himself. We’re now back to the safe status quo and look how great the country is after a year and half. We’re expanding NATO, sending billions of dollars of weapon’s over seas, increasing tension we haven’t felt since the Cold War, massive inflation, further economic inequality, social alienation, more frequent mass shootings, etc
tbh no ordinary person could think of something this cruel (Industrialization in full swing as a form of backlash of the rationale of the enlightment & antisemitism disguised as anticapitalism). However, it was done by humans like us and that's the most important thing to remember. Villainization doesn't help coping with this tbh. I think it's far more terrifying to realize that tbh. Just a general thought I like to throw in when people talk about Hitler.
Yeah I agree and I'm thankful that the allies didn't immediately execute the high command like Stalin was demanding ( plus 50 thousand more officers) because the Nuremberg trials went a long way to humanizing them and clearly showing them for the ridiculous and petty men they were
it did take him a whole 3 hours to tell them to stop though
And he immediately wanted to redact it

but is neoliberalism really still hegemonic? Biden and Trump (also the EU) before are using MMT-inspired economic policies to finance the s***. It feels like a step away from the austerity of neoliberalism. Not necessarily downplaying the "badness" of it but I guess many people in power realized that theoretical framework failed (at least for some situations).

This is less of a States problem than a Putin problem isn't it?

The thing though is they weren’t a focused fascist threat, they were a deranged group of fools. The left has better organization and could have easily joined the riots and transformed them into something that could have potentially done some good. Political dissidents have made convenient alliances before. It probably still wouldn’t have amounted to much but an increase in spending on the surveillance state, because the systems in place make it very unlikely for anything like that to function in practice.

We’ve sort of evolved into a bizarre technocratic thing. Whatever IT is that we’re currently under is still a result of the prior hegemony.
Bowie called him a rock star
true Hitler might be the biggest "star" of the 20th century(is there a more famous person around the globe tbh) if you want to call him that. Reminds me a bit of when Stockhausen called 9/11 the greatest piece of art in an interview during the early 2000s (also House That Jack Built),
"The left has better organization and could have easily joined the riots and transformed them into something that could have potentially done some good. " wym by this?
Isn’t it pretty self explanatory. Use leftist organization to take advantage of a potentially revolutionary opportunity.

so what kind of government would have been in place if the organized leftists helped the trumpers to literally overthrow the government? and how would it be better? seems like a pipe dream to me but i think i probably disagree with you about the leftist revolution type stuff anyway

Like I said it was impractical. Nothing was really going to happen. The government would never be overthrown through those means. I’m just arguing that optically it could have transformed into a moment less centered on Trump and more a unified nation wide ideologically diverse dissent from the establishment order. I’m not saying put a gun to Pence or Pelosi’s head and demand health care but maybe try something.

maybe if it was at a different time but i cant see them being able to transform that moment like that when the impetus for it was literally just denying the election results
I’d go further but honestly the country would be in a much better place if it was just in a basic social democracy without the non stop cultural battles that are used as a distraction from achieving even that modest goal.

sounds good to me

I'm really conflicted about this. I do get the sentiment here but I don't want to affiliate with fascists in a sense to get the opportunity here.
The real question why wasn't the left able to do this in the first place back when Trump headed into office for example? Where was the organization. Furthermore, another question would be if such an heavily organized structure might actually hurt the political cause? Not spontaneous enough for example if one wants to go the extra-parliamental route. In fact, the left's organization often leads to exactly that. Parliamental structures. Also, the left simply didn't do it.

I think it was honestly bigger and deeper than that. We’ve had previous elections were the results were denied. It felt like a bottled up frustration finally cracking. The right misplaces that frustration and chooses the wrong targets, but generally that frustration is coming from the same place just colored differently.

bigger and deeper yes, but i think it matters that if you asked every person at the capitol that day why they were there they'd say "because they're stealing the election"
