"I'll say it again, I need a brand new friend" segment is bliss for me Absolutely love the way the whole band comes together to achieve transcendence on those moments. Ray with his ascending arpeggios and Krieger and his articulate noodling punctuating each keyboard line

I’ve recently noticed I have this problem while listening first time where I’m not totally focused on the music because I’m trying to figure out what tracks I’ll put in what playlists I have. Like I have ones broken up by decade as well as sub genre/vibes as well as bands/artists. So each track if it’s listenable automatically goes in its respective decade and artist playlist. Sometimes I feel like I’m listening just to categorize things or just to get through them.

I also have loads of playlist categories but they're absolutely not distracting me from my first listens to new music. I feel like this is what you do with movies too after watching all of the trailers and interviews and internet discourse before you actually get around to the movie then you're just distracted by your expectations or which devil's advocate you're going to play towards the reaction so far.

This is just blatantly wrong. If anything I go out of my way not to write film reviews as a reaction to something. I only push back against a prominent angle if I was aware of it already and it’s worth engaging with. I don’t watch trailers and interviews or go through countless reviews and articles to get an impression of something before I see it.

Sometimes I just want to listen to a particular artist, era, or style on shuffle. I drive to most music so it’s nice to have things be automatic and sorted.
