Didn't you just get into that Family album
Didn't you just get into that Family album
No I heard it like last year. I just was reminded how good it was on a recent re-listen. Could probably switch it around with The Smoke’s self titled album. It’s really hard after the top 10. What’s difficult is balancing long time favorites you’ve played to death with relatively recent discoveries that really impressed you.
But Elvis made it pretty high, you gotta give me credit for that.

Yeah I see you ranking it way above stuff I know youve loved for eons
it is tough to balance fresh classics against certified ones tho. Glad to see Elvis.

Yeah you’re right, some of it for sure feels wrong. It’s the reason it’s still a rough draft.

This ain't gunna be a problem for me this time cause I haven't heard a new 60s album in years

i think the Family vocalist sounds a bit too much like Steve Winwood who im also not crazy about. Just read that the two bands were very close and recorded their albums together etc so makes sense. just not my fave little niche of brit psych i guess.
just found this interesting '67 single they did
vocal not as throaty nasally as usual

Rod and Jeff snapped on this.
Talk about surpassing the original.
Sheesh.

love Rod but lord no
to each its own.
Yeah Yarbirds unparalleled for me. Not just cause of Beck but Samwell-Smith and his gift for arrangements. Rod probably beat Relf for the vocal but the original has a frantic energy that cant be matched, especially during the buzzsaw guitar segment.
