Yeah, Breaking Bad peaked in S2 iirc but everybody hammed up s4 and S5 as Walt became a badass supervillain with no morals which I don't buy
I don’t read it that way. I think Season 4 is the peak. I don’t find it hammy really, it’s a bit more subtle than that. He from the start is having these like bursts of joy from doing something wrong, like a cathartic adrenaline rush. It just sort of crystallizes by the end when he’s now consumed by his seeming inability to fail. I don’t think it’s cartoonish generally. The show is darkly comedic all the way through and if it ever does get cartoonish it’s just a result of that inherent tone.
i guess to be fair, Sopranos was rather cartoonish from the get-go but got more serious and a bit more grounded as the series went on.
I think you maybe be misremembering Breaking Bad. It’s almost a straight up comedy show for the first season with full blown slapstick.

Maybe I need to re-watch it. I haven't seen the show since the actual release of each episode. SO about 10 years
Maybe I'll binge it when I'm on holidays but I was planning on binging Sopranos again

I’d highly recommend watching Better Call Saul first and then rewatching Breaking Bad. So satisfying seeing things come full circle with the added context.

I did not have plans for BCS honestly.
Pretty sure Sopranos would win in a 'best TV shows' voting thread here so I'm glad we can all agree not to ever do that

I mean it’s Twin Peaks for me. Sopranos is a close second though.
Are you a fellow Saul fan? It’s so well shot I had to pause it multiple times just to take in the image longer.
I watched it every week and posted about it on ktt1. Was one of the few reasons I still watched TV
And yet I found Carmela fascinating to watch. I guess Edie Falco is just that good.
Carmela was way better written

It was still silly at times towards the end like when they found the money in the stove
You're probably right but its still the thought of his wifes giant crying face always taking up the screen that stops me from revisiting
Skylar was pretty well written iirc but just annoying. What was the other chicks name? The one married to the detective? She was f***ing useless.

Goofy situations for sure but the character writing/acting was insane. Like sticking a Scorsese character in a Looney Tunes situation. It just worked though.
is this the album version? Sounds kinda different
You and Galaxy have the same taste in women lol
I have dealt with Gloria levels of crazy several times. Sopranos had the most accurate depiction of that kinda relationship I've ever seen.

Same man. It’s horrible to deal with.
