f***ing love jon richman saw him last year he f***ing owned it was just him and a drummer and he would put his guitar down and do weird little jigs mid song
Did he do Lesbian Bar?
Letterboxd reviews in general are just kinda deflating if you're looking for real discussion about the films. 85% of the reviews are just attempts at witty quips to gain likes
just block all the annoying people like brat pitt and karsten etc. i follow a number of great accounts on there that have opened up entire worlds of cinema for me (sean gilman, comrade yui, filipe furtado etc)
Did he do Lesbian Bar?
yes
i really like his album i, jonathan, as well as all his 80s s*** is phenomenal
Ok i might as well throw out my idea for next list but don't wanna go through with it unless I feel everybody's on board
Been wanting to do a Best Albums by Female Artists (all genres/decades) since before announcing 21st century list. I feel like every predictable outcome for these lists has been male artists and if I went back and did the math, it's mostly male artists. Especially in the earlier decades. I genuinely think it'd be a very interesting list because we wouldn't know what to expect.
Lemme know what y'all think. I think we all have different favorite female artists and it would be a varied list
down for whatever, kate bush going 1 2 and 3
Not to be a party pooper, but I’m just not interested in breaking down my taste by the identity characteristics of the people making it. It’s an interesting idea and I’d be curious to see the results, but I probably won’t be participating.

Comrade Yui has me blocked lol
doesnt suprise me lol
Never even interacted with them on there. I think I just dunked on one of their reviews on twitter and they somehow got wind.
I've seen three concerts in three days: The 1975, Little Simz and Weyes Blood. I could talk about all of them at length, God, I'm so blessed, but tonight deserves a longer post.
Perfume Genius opened for Weyes Blood and was one of the best opening acts I've seen. He's just different at this point, so much confidence and camp and he has an incredible discography after all this time. 52 minutes and not a second wasted.
Between sets though...man. Saw my ex and we haven't talked in a year
I've talked about her before. She's the BPD girl who changed my life and gave me so much self confidence, only to snap and accuse me of rape and try to ruin my life. This show was at the f***ing Greek so the odds of being in the same line at the same time isn't great, but it happened.
Bro I was SICK. I hate that another person still has that much pull of my emotions, it's actually embarrassing, but she still does. Nausea, panic, everything, and yet I still have a lot of love for her and it took everything to not run over to her and embarrass myself. I reached out to a friend who has been through something very similar and he calmed me down. Thankfully, I got out of there without ever interacting with her again.
And then, you know, there was still a Weyes Blood set to watch. I bought some overpriced whiskey once my ex was out of the drink line, got to my seat and started crying. The people around me probably thought I was nuts. The first song Natalie plays is It's Not Just Me, It's Everybody and bruh I was f***ing gone. She has to be one of the most beautiful people on the planet and every second of that set was sublime.
The whole set I was just like

The final lyrics of the night were apropos:
Picture us better
We finally found a winter for your sweater
Got a brand new big suit of armor, it's tough
Since you left, I've grown so much
If I could have seen you just once more
Tell you how much you're adored
There's no point turning more
Waiting for the call from beyond
Waiting for something with meaning
To come through soon
Anyway, I have a lot of s*** I need to work out that I thought I was over but clearly not! I'm going to write for a while and go to bed.
how was 1975 im seeing em in nov

yea she def name-searches lol. but great movie knowledge put me on to a lot of s***
i like LB for logging/watchlisting and seeing what everyone else is watching but otherwise it's just twitter

I’d recommend Mike Thorn or Neil Bahadur as an alternative.

thats basically how i use it, especially since Im not trying to write 1,000 word reviews during my free time when writing is literally my job
I have one of those exes floating around town still
don't cry but get embarrassingly, visibly flustered whenever I see her (my gf noticed this despite all attempts to hide it and part of my soul died). Was only with her for 3 years which was like 7 years ago now but first love s*** never goes away.
I still have love for this girl too and on one level it's stupid and embarrassing, but it's less important to numb thoughts and feelings than it is to act appropriately on them. If you're doing the right things, that's what counts.
Honestly, it was a massive W that I didn't go up and talk to her when I had the chance. I had the opportunity to really f*** up her night and mine but I reached out to someone who cares about me more instead
holy s*** dude the third paragraph is one of my worst fears.
I think I mentioned this in a recent post but I have a cousin with BPD and she's been to the psych ward 250+ times. I have amazing sympathy for someone like that but would never date them.
glad you had a good time tho ultimately.
That's horrible.
This girl was seeing a therapist but it sounded like they were friends and he kissed her ass all the time, which is worse than having no therapist at all because it empowers f***ed up behavior.
She was prescribed Lexapro but she only took it when she felt like it, which is not how Lexapro works.

Great! Really nice stage setup, generous setlist (we got 26 songs), good performances.
The only thing I'll say is that Matty is back to getting f***ed up during shows and he was super wasted on Monday night. That was more distracting than anything, especially because they dedicate a portion of the set to Matty rambling about whatever. It's cringy.
This was at my show:

The random girl shouting out Cumtown

Jut like most mental afflictions, It's a horrible disease to live with. Especially when it's severe. That's really all I have to say in that regard.
Still, doesn't excuse what she did to you. That's awful that any therapist would do something like that but do you know if she's telling the truth about the therapist given what you said before? (that's a personal question you don't have to answer btw)
I'll only say this once but my friend and tattoo artist killed himself a few months ago after getting a Metoo allegation that he said was egregious/untrue. The Brooklyn tattoo scene is extremely progressive so once the allegation came out his life completely unraveled and fell apart. All his best friends/mentors/coworkers turned on him without even questioning if it was true. Regardless of what he did or didn't do, he was one of the best guys I ever knew...
RIP Ryan

She said to me once, quote, "it's nice to have a therapist who is like me," that is, Salvadoran. She literally would not listen to a therapist who wasn't either queer, of her ethnic heritage, or both. So she valued that personal connection over hearing the truth about her behavior.
The think about BPD is that it can be "curable" in the sense that much of it stems from trauma and does not always necessitate medication. It depends. You can make a lot of progress with CBT. But it's important that you want to change and aren't just there performatively.

I lived with Severe OCD for 5 years and therapy + a couple medications essentially "cured" me. But yes you really have to want to change or else the suffering will just continue.

Damn dude I'm sorry
My friend who I turned to last night had the same thing happen to him and he's persona non grata in the SoCal hardcore scene. He won't go to shows or anything. He's a great person who cheated when he was starting a new medication after a car accident that left him depressed and unable to run. It destroyed his social life. People still periodically track him down on social media and attack him.

like I said, my worst fear. Sympathies for your friend. sounds like a good dude
I made a few friends from mental health ward about 5 years back and am pretty sure i won't ever be good friends with them again.
They one guy and I just never talked much a couple months after the ward
One girl thinks I'm transphobic (I'm not) and is the single most sensitive person I've ever met.
The worst of them all is the one girl who has split personality/BPD (might be DID) never did anything with her but she slept with my ex, and nearly killed herself from d**** shortly after. It took me a while to cut ties cause she was so f***ed up and mentally unstable all the time and she always makes people leave her with her behaviour. I didn't wanna be that person, but she continued to hang with my ex and continue to do d**** with her all the time and never improved herself. She also laughed off sleeping with her like I'm supposed to be ok with it just cause she's a girl. Funny thing is I knew about 6 months before she told me. Took her that long to fess up. She also thought offering a threesome would make me feel better but she'd only be doing herself a favor with that request. Was not interested in her like that. B****
And I even talked to and saw both the girls I mentioned above just last year. First girl probably won't ever talk to me again because of how I was talking to her at our little meetup. I was reasonably pissed because she said I gave up on the second friend but honestly i stuck around longer than I should have. Second friend I saw shortly after out of guilt and I could hardly recognize her probably from all the d**** she had done in the 3 years I didn't see her. Haven't heard from either since and I'm pretty sure the second is in and out of the ward or in an abusive/controlling relationship (or both). I don't think it'll ever be good terms with that friend group again
